Goals:
general: to help them understand the importance of communication skills medical practice , to
learn and practice how to communicate
special goals:
Knowledge: to teach students techniques of communication
practical skills: to practice techniques of communication on one another
changing attitude: to understand that communication is important to every physician no
matter the speciality and the level of knowledge
3-5 minutes Ice breaker: Introduce the person who is next to you and what sort of career they
would like to be?
10-15 min Brain storming: write down the participants ideas on the flipchart/blackboard:
“what is communication” “what do you know about it” “can one tell the difference between a
good communicator and a bad one”
5-15 minutes Feedback from each participant: “What was new for me today? What did I
learn/practice? What will I introduce into my future practice?”
