CHAPTER FOUR

Presentation of Results and Discussion

4.1Introduction
This chapter is about the presentation of the data and results gathered from the
experiment. The researchers used Single Way ANOVA and Scheffe Test to validate and
compare the data gathered from the three ratios; 50:50, 60:40, and 70:30.

4.3 Interpretation of Data

The data shows the plant growth of the mung bean plant in terms of number of leaves and
plant height. In relation to the research problem of the study, it follows that there is a significant
relationship between different admixtures of sand compost materials measure in terms of mixture
ratio the the quality of compost material measured in terms of plant growth. The different
admixtures of sand compost materials are in the ratio of 50:50, 60:40, and 70:30 where the larger
portion of the ratio is the compost material.

The mean of the plant growth in terms of plant height (in centimetres) and number of leaves
with a span of twenty days are computed. Tables 4 and 5 show the mean for both plant height
and number of leaves.

From this, the researchers used the Single Way ANOVA to determine whether there are any
statistically significant differences between the means of the three ratios. The ANOVA shows
that the F value of the plant height of the three ratio is 12.11 which is larger than the f-critical
value that is 3.16. This means that the null hypothesis is rejected and therefore, follows that the
alternative hypothesis will be accepted. The same follows with the result of the ANOVA of the
number of leaves. The F value which is 22.12 is larger than the f-critical value that is 0.604. The
results also follows that there is a significant difference in the group means.

Furthermore, the researchers used post-hoc test is used to identify sample means that are
significantly different from each other. Scheffe test is used to find out which pairs of means are
significant. The formula for the Scheffe test is:

The result shows that the mean pairs of the plant height are significantly different from each
other. On the other hand, the result of the Scheffe test of the number of leaves shows that the
mean pair AC (50:50 ratio and 70:30 ratio) is not significantly different with each other while the
other mean pairs has a significant difference.
