02 How To Install The Sap Gui
02 How To Install The Sap Gui
Time 20 min
As a student of this SAP class, you have permission from the SAP University Alliance to install the
graphical user interface (GUI) for SAP software. Note that you do not install the SAP software on your
computer, only the GUI which allows you to interact with our SAP servers, located in Chico, California,
as long as you have a valid logon account. When you want to perform SAP transactions, your computer
has to be connected to the Internet.
The SAP GUI is installed on every computer in the Galloway Business Building labs, as well as on
some computers in the Mary and John Gray Library. Having the SAP GUI installed on your own
computer allows you to complete SAP assignments at your home.
All SAP students may download the SAP GUI file from:
http://worker.cob.csuchico.edu
3. Once the file has installed, find the SAP Logon icon on your desktop and double click it to
open the SAP LOGON dialog box.
4. Select the server you need for your class and check to make sure you can log in without problems.
(Computers running Firewalls may need to allow the SAP GUI to pass through the Firewall. This is
often done automatically, but may require some setup otherwise.)
FOR MAC OS X MACHINES:
3. Once the file has completed its installation (this will take a couple of
minutes), the SAP Logon icon should be available either on your desktop, or along the
Application bar at the bottom of your screen. If the icon is not in these locations check
your Applications folder.
5. Enter the following URL into the field named SAP UI Landscape under the Web
AS section:
http://worker.cob.csuchico.edu/hostsaplogon/SAPUILandscape.xml
This URL will find the server list and load it each time you open your SAP GUI. You will need to
ensure you are on the internet before starting this window.
6. Once the complete path is entered in the Configuration Settings field, click the
Apply button in the
lower right corner. Finally, click Save if available. You should see a message indicating the
Configuration has been saved.
7. Click the SAP Logon icon to open the SAPGUI for Java window. Click the
dropdown in the middle of the window and select Local from the menu. You should now see a list of
available servers. Click on the server you are to use for class to test your connection. (You will need
to access the Internet for your connection to work.)
