2 Introduction
This document describes the Combined NT Unit version E (NANT-E) which is part of
the 7302 Intelligent Services Access Manager (7302 ISAM) and the 7330 Intelligent
Services Access Manager Fiber to the Node (7330 ISAM FTTN).
The NANT-E:
• Can be used in a 7302 ISAM Flexible Density (FD) subrack and a 7330 ISAM FTTN
FD subrack.
• Performs all management and alarm handling functions for the ISAM subrack and all
the client devices mounted in the subrack or connected to the subrack, and supports
the management and control interfaces required for this task.
These client devices are:
• for a 7302 ISAM FD subrack: the LT boards
• for a 7330 ISAM FTTN FD subrack: a combination of LT boards, SB-REM units, and/
or FD-SEM units.
• Has four SFP+ 10Gigabit Ethernet (10GE) interfaces
The SFP+ interfaces support 1 GE, 2.5 GE and 10 GE data rates.
• Has one 10/100/1000BASE-T interface
• Supports up to 128 K MAC address entries with hardware assisted aging.
• Supports NT I/O.
• Can be used in the following operational conditions:
• in Central Office (CO) environment with multiple 7302 FD subracks, the ambient
temperature can be between -5 °C to +45 °C
• in a single 7302 FD subrack or a single 7330 FD subrack, the ambient temperature can
be between -40 °C to +70 °C
• Consists of components which are compliant to the regulations of Reduction of
Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment
(WEEE).
• Is compliant to safety standards IEC / EN 60950-1 and AS/NZS 60950-1, provided
that it is installed, maintained and used according the relevant installation instructions.
4 General Description
The LT boards are responsible for the physical termination of user interfaces and non-
blocking user aggregation.
The NANT-E board must be used at the NT-A and/or the NT-B position of the ISAM
FD subrack. Figure 1 shows the position of the NANT-E in the ISAM system.

• ACU:
The Alarm Control Unit (ACU) provides all the necessary alarm control and interface
circuitry for accumulating system alarms, driving relay contacts for alarm outputs
and provisioning visual alarm indications.
• NUTS:
The Network/User Transport and Switching (NUTS) provides the interface and
switching circuitry for the front and back related uplink/network interfaces to/from
the LT slots.
• PSIM:
The Power Supply Interface Module (PSIM) converts the rack power supply into all
necessary voltages as required by the used components.
• FIM:
The Frontplate Interface Module (FIM) located at the front stiffener holds the
physical interfaces (four SFP+, one 10/100/1000Base-T interface) together with a
visual port status indication. The FIM also hosts a Management Interface (CRAFT)
together with the ACO functionality.
• BIM:
The Backplane Interface Module (BIM) constitutes all the necessary control,
management, and data plane related interface inside the complete ISAM system.
6 External Interfaces
The following external interfaces are accessible via the front panel:
Communication Interfaces
5 communication interfaces are available via the front panel:
• 1 x fixed 10/100/1000BaseT port
This port can work both in 10Mbit, 100Mbit or 1GE mode.
Note: a shielded Ethernet cable must be used to connect this interface.
• 4 x 10GE SFP+ port:
This port can work both in 1 GE mode (with standard SFP optics), in 2.5 GE mode
and in 10 GE mode (with SFP+ optics).
Management Interfaces
The following management interfaces are available via the front panel:
• Local Craft Management interface (LCMI) (RJ45 connector)
• An Alarm Cut-Off Switch (ACOS) and LED (ACOLED)
Note: any of the five communication interfaces can also be used as management interface.
The following Daisy Chain (DC) interfaces are available via the front panel:
• DC input interface (RJ45 connector named “BITS IN”)
• DC output interface (RJ45 connector named “BITS OUT”)
Note: In the standard configuration, the daisy chain capability is mapped onto the 8kHz
clock.
