ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT

I- TITLE OF ACTIVITY: 4 B’s Initiative

Project REAL (Reading Enhancement to Activate Learning)

II- GRADE LEVEL: Grade Two

III- OBJECTIVES:

1. To promote love of reading.


2. To develop the comprehension skills of the learners.
3. To promote the school classroom library and reading center.

IV- SIGNIFICANT HIGHLIGHTS:

Grade 2 class advisers facilitate the reading session from 1:00 to 1:30 in the
afternoon to encourage pupils read so they can feel the pleasure of reading and
eventually develop love for reading. Variety of learning reading materials are found
in every classroom’s mini library which pupils have freedom to use the materials at
will. Shared reading and guided reading are done by the teachers to provide
reading opportunities to enable the learners increase their reading proficiency
level.

Selected stakeholders were invited as celebrity readers in every class to


share stories using big books which help the children develop their listening and
comprehension skills. Pupils are attentive and actively engage in the different
activities given to them especially in answering the comprehension questions.

Independent readers are doing their task being paired with instructional
readers with minimal supervision of the teacher. Both readers were given
opportunity to work cooperatively and boost their self-confidence in reading.
Frustration and non-readers are under the care of class advisers for guided
reading using Marungko Approach.

V- INSIGHTS

 Interest in reading of the pupils were developed.


 Attention span of the pupils were increased.
 Listening and comprehension skills were improved.
 Maximum utilization of reading materials found in the classroom.
 Significant increase of the proficiency reading level from non-reader to
frustration, frustration to instructional and instructional to independent.

VI- RECOMMENDATIONS/SUGGESTIONS:

We recommend that these practices will be implemented consistently


from the beginning of the school year.

We would suggest that teachers will be provided budget in the


reproduction of reading materials and worksheets.
