Signature courses
IBS, Hyderabad Signature courses are foundational courses covering interesting topics in a wide range
of areas. They are taught by IBS faculty who are recognized for their interest, research or practice in
those specialized areas. The courses revolve around contemporary or interdisciplinary issues, or
simply explore a major. Each course may have lectures by faculty and include interactive student
engagement including small group discussions, group projects, oral presentations, exercises, sales
pitches and other active, experiential learning strategies which can establish a common basis for
intellectual exchange among the community of students and teachers.
Signature courses will benefit students in academic learning but they are also geared to help students
acquire and exhibit the skills which employers seek – inquiry, an attitude of openness to learning,
metacognition, independent and assimilative learning and reflection. These courses are non-credit
courses and the session details, dates, timings and other formalities will be decided by the instructor.

The respective faculty will issue the certificate to students who successfully complete the course(s).
