Globalization of market :

'Globalisation is the process enabling financial and investment markets to operate internationally, largely
as a result of deregulation and improved communications.'

'Globalization is not the same as globalism, which points to aspirations for an end state of affairs'

Unilever has not necessarily globalised into one specific country, they have branched off into many
different ones, placing only a few of their products in each.

Two macro factors underline the trend towards greater globalisation, these are:

 Declining trade and investment barriers

 The role of technological change

Unilever has made the right use of foreign direct investment. They have improved productivity and
moving more towards machinery than physical presence. Unilever is trying to bulid its roots in
developing countries. Because of its great distribution network and the ability to cope with the global
brand concepts unilever is successful to have great impact on local markets around asia.
Political :

The multinational companies around the world are facing the political issues. Unilever being a
multinational company is also facing the same issue. But the company has the strategical way to handle
this issue. In the 1960s, almost all the countries in the world started to nationalize the foreign organization
which affected the business of many multinational companies. It also affected the business of unilever. It
was done for local equity participation in foreign firm. It created a tensed environment among foreign
companies because it will create issues like loss of trademark, knowledge leakage in the market. Unilever
was also fearing because they will lose their control in the international market. However , having a great
influence in the world economy, unilever started to bargain with different govt. around the world so that
they could change their regulations and could make a favorable environment for the company. Now
unilever has achieved political ground through right strategy and experience and is also member of many
organizations around the world.
