ABSTRACT

RAHMALIA DINI HANIFA. The Frequention of Anti Ectoparasite Drug Use in Cat
at Starvet Animal Clinic in Bogor on 2017 and 2018. Supervised by BAYU
FEBRAM PRASETYO and HARRY SOEHARTONO.

The anti-ectoparasitic drug is the type of medication used to treat infestation


of ectoparasites in small animal. The purpose of this research is to examine the anti-
ectoparasitic drugs that are often used and its effectivity in cases of infections caused
by flea and Sarcoptes scabiei mites which cause scabies in cats. This is a descriptive
study using medical records from 123 patients who have infections caused by
ectoparasites. This study showed the use of anti-ectoparasitic drugs in cat with flea
infestation for the treatments are; imidacloprid 10% combined with moxidectin 2.5%
by 73.68% usage and anti-ectoparasit ivermectin by 26.32% usage, while in animals
with scabies for the treatments are; anti-ectoparasitic ivermectin by 71.15% usage,
permethrin 5% by 24.04% usage and imidacloprid 10% combined with moxidectin
2.5% by 4.81% usage. Imidacloprid 10% combined with moxidectin 2.5% is the
hingest frequention of the use based on the medical records of the veterinary clinic’s
are, imidacloprid 10% combined with moxidectin 2.5% to treat cases of flea
infestation, while ivermectin is the most usage to treat cases of scabies.
