State Building in the Americas Illustrated Map

You will use information from the stations to create an illustrated map of the Post-Classical
states in the Americas. Using images, you will show how each state developed political, social,
economic, and cultural systems to maintain control of its territory and peoples. You may
complete the map on paper or on the computer (make sure any images taken from the internet are
cited to avoid plagiarism).
States in the Americas: Maya, Mexica/Aztec, Inca, Chaco, Mesa Verde, and Cahokia

Your map must include:


• Outline of each state in different colors (2 points/state)
• Draw a symbol to illustrate the system of government (3 points/state) 30
• Draw a symbol to illustrate THREE elements of state building (6 points/state)
• Draw a symbol to illustrate how/why the government collapsed (3 points/state)
• Write a paragraph comparing TWO states in the Americas (16 points)
