STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS IN JOINING ONLINE CLASS

THROUGH SCHOOLOGY
STEP 1: On your laptop, desktop computer, tablet or mobile phone, click any browser (Google
Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer) and type in the address bar:
dyci.schoology.com

You should see the name of the

school below the Username and
Password box.

STEP 2: Type only the given USERNAME and PASSWORD to gain access.
STEP 3: Once you gain an access in the platform, the following are helpful icons to remember.

A. HOME BUTTON – the logo of the School is the Home button.

B. COURSES – this is where you will be able to find your ‘SUBJECTS’. You should always
check if you have the complete number of subjects on your COURSES button.

C. GROUPS – this is where you may join organizations, or clubs. For collaboration, and group
discussions.
 D. RESOURCES – this button is where you may store your personal library, references and
materials, you may also link your google drive and others applications in this section.

After familiarizing yourself with the basic buttons of Schoology, it’s about time to discover how
should you be able to join an online class.

STEP 4: Go to your ‘COURSES’ button, and click on your subject for that particular schedule.
This is how your courses dashboard looks like:
STEP 5: After choosing a Subject on your COURSES button, you will be redirected in this
interface:

STEP 6: Check on the left side of your screen, and

see the navigation tools

Materials: This is where you’ll be able to find your

assignments, assessments or other materials
uploaded by your instructor/professor

Updates: Like in Facebook, this is where you may post

announcements exclusive for your classmates on that
specific subject.

Grades and Attendance: This is where you’ll be able

to see your progress on online assessments and tasks
conducted by your professor/instructor

Members: There you will see who are your classmates

for that specific subject.

Conferences: This is where online classes shall be

facilitated.
STEP 7: Click on ‘CONFERENCES’ and ‘Approve’ the Conference App.

STEP 8: After approving, you will see the list of conference scheduled that day. Then, just click
the name of the Conference to Join.

Click on the Conference name to join, you will

notice that the status of the Conference you are to
join is ‘IN PROGRESS’ status.

If it is not in ‘In Progress’ status, you will not be

able to join the conference. That means that your
instructor/professor has not started the online
class yet.
STEP 9: Once you click the name of the conference, another tab will pop out of your monitor.
That is the Big Blue Button App – the Conference App of Schoology.

STEP 10: In the Big Blue Button Conference, you may notice in the left most part, the names of
your classmates (or the participants of that conference). Aside from that, it also features PUBLIC
CHAT BOX, where you may send inquiries while the discussion is on-going. The screen as seen
on the image above, is the presentation area. Where your instructor/professor would upload or
present power point presentations, videos and others.

REMINDER 1: As courtesy to your professor/instructor keep your microphone muted. And once
you are asked to open your camera, please do so. In this way, your teacher would be able to see
you while the discussion is ongoing. You are not required to keep your camera on, there are only
instances when your professor would be asking you to turn it on.

REMINDER 2: Your professor/instructor may record the whole session, and the recording will
only be accessible for seven (7) days. After seven days, the session recoding will be automatically
deleted.

Where shall I find the recording?

Click on Conference, and then, choose ‘COMPLETED’, there you will see the recorded sessions
of your instructors/professors for that subject.
