Instructions to Players

National Online Chess Championships

1. Players should login to chess.com/live (not only www.chess.com). They may use Chess.com
username but must register their real name and upload their ID photo in their Chess.com profile.
Players without real name (as in FIDE) and ID photo will not be paired.

2. Players will be invited to join their respective National online Championship club in Chess.com.
Players banned by Chess.com cannot participate. Please note Chess.com regulations:
• Must have completed at least five rated games of Online Chess on Chess.com (required for
all tournaments).
• Must have no more than a 10% timeout ratio in the last 90 days.

3. List of players will be announced in official Facebook page and in chess-results.com

4. Log in opens 1 hour before and closes 30 minutes before the start in order to be paired.

5. Only the player shall be in his/her playing room. He/she should scan the room and show the
Arbiter.

6. To ensure fair play, an arbiter shall supervise all games via Zoom. Invitation to Zoom shall be
published in the club page in chess.com and by email. Only Arbiters and Players shall be invited to
each zoom session. During the game, every player should set up a smartphone or similar function
device in the right (or left) corner to let the camera show the screen and the player, for example:

7. Pairings shall be made by Swiss Manager Software using FIDE Rapid ratings or Standard ratings or
Blitz ratings, in that order.
8. Each round shall take from 30 to 40 minutes. There shall be a break after 5 rounds. At 12:00
players should be at their seats and wait for the Arbiter to start the round. Each round shall start
2 minutes after publication of pairings on chess.com. Defaulting time by Chess.com is one minute
after start of clock. A game without first move by White shall be won by Black. A game with first
move by White but without move of Black shall be won by White. Results shall be published on
chess-results.com before next pairings in order for players to verify.

9. Internet connection and hardware are the player’s responsibility. In case a game which has
started is aborted accidently by the server, the game shall be replayed with blitz time control.
Make a screenshot of the error message “Game aborted by server”.

10. All players should complete the tournament. Those who wish to withdraw should inform the
arbiter before pairings are published for the next round. Players who withdraw without
informing the official before the next round shall be sanctioned.

11. Arbiters shall supervise the Zoom room of players. Players may not leave camera range during the
game.

12. Results shall be published round by round in chess-results.com and final standings in the official
Facebook page of National online chess Championship 2020.
