Life-Long Apple User


Dear Apple Management:

There have been a few concerns of mine that have been raised over the course of the
past few years as a result of personal experience to which I am hoping to smooth out
via this inquiry.

I have been a fan of apple products for the majority of my life and in many aspects, they
have wiggled their way into my (as well as many of my peers) "essentials" list for day to
day life. However, many problems have presented themselves as of recent and it is my
desire to express those with you and clear up any confusion i may have on my part.

In the past month, I was extremely pleased to have had an upgrade from my iPhone 8,
which I had had for over 2 and a half years, to the iPhone X. Shortly after, me and some
iPhone X water resistance rating
of my friends decided to take a rafting trip down the Rio Grande. Because of my desire
to take pictures and the confidence in my new iPhones water resistant capability (see
video and image below), I took my phone on the trip as well. After getting the pictures
out of the way, I placed my phone in a sealed "water tight" bag alongside some of my
friends phones. Once we arrived at our destination, we got out of the river and to our
surprise, there was water in the phone bag and to my disappointment, my new iPhone
had been broken by the water while all of my friend's phones (Samsungs) were in
perfect condition.
Since I have been fortunate enough to purchase a replacement but still have concerns
about the water resistance rating given to the iPhone X :
1. What could have caused the phone to break after about 30 minutes of
submersion?
2. What are steps that I can take in the future to lessen the chance of my iPhone
breaking if it were to be submerged in water?
