Hose Repairs
SPIR STAR is often able to repair and re-test our customer’s slightly used, slightly damaged
hose assemblies. However, in order to better serve you, our customer, there are some key
points to look for before you return a hose assembly for repair evaluation:
• Media in Hose - the hose assembly must be free of all media before being returned
for repair evaluation; please ensure that all hoses are flushed prior to returning.
SPIR STAR cannot accept assemblies which have fluid remaining in them. Hoses
which arrive without being flushed will be returned to the customer.
• Exposed Wire - if the hose assembly has excessive cover damage and exposed wire,
it is likely that a useable length of the hose will not be able to be repaired.
• Excessive Kinks - if the hose assembly has excessive kinks throughout, then we will
not likely be able to repair a useable length.
Repairing SPIR STAR hose assemblies can be a great cost savings compared to purchasing
a new hose assembly. Of course, there are times when a hose assembly can not or should
not be repaired and for safety reasons a new hose assembly should be purchased. By
inspecting the hose prior to returning it to SPIR STAR, you can save both time and freight
costs in determining that a hose assembly can not be repaired. For more information
regarding hose repairs, please don’t hesitate to contact a SPIR STAR representative.
