Haiku of Matsuo Basho
Haiku of Matsuo Basho
2. Spring is passing.
The birds cry, and the fishes fill
With tears on their eyes.
3. Grasses in summer.
The warriors’ dreams
All that left.
5. Ah, tranquility!
Penetrating the very rock,
A cicada’s voice.
7. To the old pond
A frog leaps in.
And the sound of the water.
8. Saying something,
The lip feel cold.
The Autumn wind.
1. On a branch
floating downriver
a cricket, singing.
2. Mosquito at my ear—
does he think
I’m deaf?
5. Goes out,
comes back—
the love life of a cat.
9. In spring rain
a pretty girl
yawning.
