Answer to the Question No-1

Covid-19 a novel virus which stopped the entire world. Almost all the countries are in lockdown
and spending their lives in quarantine. Covid-19 changed the way we live.
Before the lockdown me and my family used to buy directly from grocery shops. Me and my
mother would go out in some evening and would be roaming around inside agora to buy the
goods we need on a daily basis. However, Due to the lockdown and safety measures we decided
to use an app which helped us buy the grocery goods we needed. The app is called
“Chaldal.com” and its available for both IOS and android devices and they have a very good
website too.

Chaldaal is a very renowned website which delivers meat, fish, vegetables, groceries etc all over
dhaka since 2013.

 I chose Chaldal as they have a lot of product available in their inventory and I could find
all my daily used items there.
 Chaldal was professional enough to deliver those items as early as possible and the items
got delivered within 24 hours. I chose it as I needed the product as early as possible.
 The delivery charge was also very reasonable and in this tough time I think people from
every sphere of lives can afford their service.
 For Chaldal, none of my family members needed to go outside to buy these goods and it
was delivered right at my doorsteps.
Chaldal really helped us to ease our lives in this tough time. We are fortunate enough to
have it during this lockdown period.

Answer to the Question No-2(a)

Our Lives are full with rituals and as Bangladeshi we do celebrate and follow more
rituals than most of the countries in the world. But unfortunately, this pandemic has
affected our rituals too. Stating 3 practices which we have been doing our entire lives
until Covid-19:

1) Government Halts prayers at mosque:

Before Covid-19 Muslims usually went to mosques 5 times a day for their prayers.
As it was a social gathering and the virus could easily spread from there, government
decided to close down all the mosques for the time being and requested everyone to
complete their prayers at home. Even in Ramadan the mosques remained closed and
everyone adapted to pray from their homes.

2) Outdoor celebration Banned on Pohela-Boishakh:

Pohela-Boishakh the first day of Bangla year is usually celebrated with fairs, social
gatherings and it is very festive and it’s a ritual to celebrate it every year. It’s a
government holiday but due to covid-19 government banned all the outdoor
celebration regarding this festival. Everyone celebrated from their homes and there
were no fairs, gatherings allowed on this day as country was in lockdown.

3) No Hugs And Hand Shakes:

Hugs and Handshakes are the most common ways to greet in the entire world but
after Covid-19 in Bangladesh stopped these as it increases the risk of virus
transmission. Almost everyone also in Eid Ignored the hugging part which has been
one of the main things people would do in every Eid after the prayer. Instead
everyone Gave Salam to each other which is also very popular way to greet for the
Muslims in Bangladesh.

Answer to the Question No-2 (b)

Fighting the Corona Virus Has not been easy. Almost all the countries in the world
are suffering from this novel virus however New Zealand has confirmed that there is
Zero cases of Corona patient in their county and they completely flattened the curve.

Certainly, it is their pride moment that they have achieved such success and we really
have to appreciate their government and civilians for their combined effort to
eliminate covid-19 from their country.

On the other hand, Bangladesh failed to control the rate of total infections even
though Both New Zealand and Bangladesh went to Lockdown almost at the same
time. Even though Bangladesh has much more citizens than New Zealand but New
Zealand did something which we could not do. Let’s compare some

Bangladesh New Zealand

Weak Lockdown and failed to keep New Zealand Had one of the strictest
people at their homes and comparatively lockdowns in the entire earth. They
a late lockdown. lock downed the country with only 100
cases.
Bangladesh Don’t have enough testing New Zealand has much less citizens
capacity which certainly affected the than Bangladesh but they almost did
rate to increase. Even with 180 million 8000 test each day which is almost
people only 10000 tests are possible close to Bangladesh’s ability to test.
each day.
Couldn’t handle the self-isolation Borders are shut, except to citizens and
system for the people coming back to residents, who are required to
Bangladesh after the pandemic. There quarantine or self-isolate for 14 days
was no such restriction for the travelers upon entry.
to self-isolate and be under government
observation.
Failed to close down all types of Almost all business shuttered and only
shopping mall, restaurants and not so business which are very necessary to
necessary places even after the situation remain open are remained open like
is worse than before pharmacies and General stores.

I think despite of the differences on population and geographic area Bangladesh

could have handled the situation better than they did. However, New Zealand has
achieved a marvelous victory over covid-19.
Ans to the Question No-3(a)

As a Consumer, From My perspective these companies are emphasizing on some

keywords and almost all company are making same sort of advertisements.
Some of the similar quotes or words we can find on these advertisements are:
 Family.
 People.
 Uncertain Times.
 Since Time frame.
 Distance Between us/Apart.
 Home (Work from home).
 Together.
 Focusing on Togetherness and Hope.
 We are here for you.
As a consumer I appreciate their concern and I understand they are giving us
hope which we need the most in this challenging time but I oppose the way they
are putting the message as to be practical the world’s economy almost destroyed
within this lockdown period and as a result like all business these companies
need liquid cash too. These advertisements may give us hope and comfort but
then again it is just another way for corporate people to remind us that you can
still buy from us and I think they should come up with something which will send
their message to their customer and help the world in a better way. Like if you
buy 10 packs of a certain item, we will donate the price of 2 pieces to charity
helping to fight Covid-19.

Ans to the Question No-3(b)

If I were a giant marketer in a developing country, I would use my promotional
budget which would do both promotion and help the ones who need my company the
most. If a stable company can’t help their country people at uncertain time then I
think it’s not doing anything for the society. I would introduce a promotional offer
which would donate a certain amount of money to the needy for every 10 items sold.
That’s the way fortunate ones would buy more so that they can be a part of this
promotion and help the needy people. If I was promoting in Bangladesh I would
collaborate with NGO like ‘Bidyanondo’ and post pop ups ads in social media and
youtube.
As example,
 Hand in Hand gives soap and clean water with every purchase: For every
product purchased from Hand in Hand, they'll donate a bar of soap and a
month of clean water to a child in need. On top of that, their products are
cruelty free, totally natural, and sustainably made.
 BoxLunch gives a meal for every $10 you spend.

If I were the marketer, I would do something like this to help the society.
Many companies have used this fair-trade strategy and to me I think it’s best
for both sides, it will help the company and the society in a way that
everyone’s will be happy. It will not eliminate major problems but will
certainly help a group of people.
