A SPEECH ON CLIMATE CHANGE

Ladies and Gentlemen Good morning/afternoon:

There is a very serious topic which to me, affects each and everyone of us-our families, our
communities, our nation and our whole world today. It is indeed a very essential and relevant issue, too,
mainly because it pertains to our very dear lives, survival and perpetuating our existence on earth. This
is all about climate change and or global warming.

We ought and must all be aware about climate change. It has something to do with the
temperature of the earth and the atmosphere. From the glaring heat of the sun to penetrate the earth
surface is a phenomenon which changes of weather and climate occur. There is no other period of
man’s survival more than ever than in today’s world tackling resolve to reduce or minimize the impact of
greenhouse gases emission such as carbon dioxide, ozone, methane in the atmosphere. If it is not
attended to, it will result the continuing imbalance of nature such as ice melting in the North and South
Poles, more drought and heatwaves, super storms such as hurricanes, tornadoes and super typhoons,
earthquakes, lead to the death of flora and fauna and ultimately the end of human life on earth.

It is then important that nations come together and solve this very alarming problem. Scientists,
businessmen, political leaders and people of all walks of life worldwide have seriously dealt with the
enormous, vast and huge impact of climate change. Global warming causes climate change. Countries all
over the world have initiated international conferences or conventions to curb the problem and
rationally came up, since green house gas emissions must be checked globally from London to New York
and to Asia and Africa persist, we must then act to minimize or collectively reduce these emissions from
their factories, manufacturing plants, smoke from all sources such as vehicles, ships, airplanes etc.
Scientists advance the theory as earlier discussed that man’s activity and nature’s wrath is
interdependent. Meaning, there is a cycle of these two factors that if man abuse mother nature then the
latter retaliates to cause global warming and consequently climate change will result.

So, my friends, I have given some ideas, opinions and perspective about this topic. Many of you
might even say, should I tend to tell before you that here in our country alone or in our class in school,
that we need to practice the Bayanihan Spirit maybe a taboo or ningas cogon. Solving the global
warming must start from our homes, in our school, in our community to nation and to the world. Let us
ride in our bikes to school rather than thru our motorbikes or even cars to stop air pollution. Let us
dump our garbage in a dug pit and so on and so forth. And, this is bayanihan in our country and
Bayanihan throughout the world!

Lastly, let us all be God fearing and pray that a country that help eradicate global warming and
climate change together and love and care for the rest of our fellow human beings together stay
together forever through eternity.

Thank you.
