About Parks in Bangalore:

Bangalore is rightfully known as the “Garden City of India”. Owing to the


pleasant climate and topography, greenery and the presence of many public
parks and gardens. Though the city has grown in many ways, it still has
retained its earlier beauty through its green landscapes. Some of them have
been beautified over the years. The important ones are Cubbon park,
Lalbagh,Coles Park, M.N. Krishna Rao Park, Jayamahal Park,Cariappa Memorial
Park, Nandanavana Park, Jayanagar, Kuvempu Park, BTM Layout, R.V. Road
Children’s Park etc Along with the modernization and more entertaining needs
of Bangaloreans,there are many Amusement and Water Parks.

In BBMP we have 1247 developed parks and lot of scope to develop


undeveloped parks in Bangalore.

The residents of the area could spend many a pleasant evenings, with a
Bandstand where the Band of Bangalore Rifle Volunteers played. Today the park
belongs to the Municipal Corporation and has renovated for public use.

There is a jogger’s path and play corner for children to play. The Bandstand
area has is beautified with benches around and a walker path. These parks have
been made disabled friendly.

There is a ramp at the main gate to facilitate entry. There is a wheelchair track
in the play space that allows easy movement for wheelchair users. A wheelchair
sandpit and a Sensory Integration track are being constructed. The swing and
the play equipments are designed suitable for easier access for handicapped
kids.

Today there is Laughing Club activities in the Morning and Roller Skating Rink
and classes are held in the evenings.

The uniqueness about these parks are they provides games and play area in
military themes, enabling the children to improve their physical, mental abilities
with fun and excitement.
Visitors can view the show with comfortable seating at the lush green grass
around the bandstand. The other attractions are the manned waterfalls, tarzan
swing, burma bridge, zig zag tunnels, spider webs, sand pits, ponds and
balance bars. This can be challenging for a toddler but definitely a treat for an
adventure loving kid.

The eco friendly parks have a large collection of indigenous and imported
species of flora and fauna. It is maintained without the use of any pesticides or
insecticides. Thus the park offers fresh unpolluted breath of air for the nature
lovers in the midst of the buzzing IT city. It provides a wonderful family outing.

The parks boasts of a variety of colorful play equipment and 14 imported play
models that is safe even for toddlers.

There are a number of mounted images of cartoon characters spread across the
park. The highlight of the place is the musical fountain that mesmerizes kids
and adults alike.

The park is dotted with a number of animal sculptures. Toddlers and young
children can have a great time playing around the sculptures of various animals
like deer, giraffe, elephant, dinosaur and a peacock too. There are a variety of
play equipments as well. A large gazebo standing in the middle of the park
provides ample space to sit and relax.

The Jayaprakash Narayana Park or the JP Park in Mathikere is one of the largest
parks in Bangalore. This spacious park has the play area divided into 3 sections.
Two of these sections have a variety of colorful play equipment’s for kids. The
3rdsection is used for sports like badminton, volleyball, etc. One of the
attractions of the park is a small rock garden that has seating areas made of
broken glass pieces.
A large pond with various species of fishes also keeps the kids entertained as
they can feed the fishes. The park has a musical fountain that becomes
functional only on weekends. Lovely sculptures of human beings and animals
placed across the park add to its beauty.
