MI PRIMERA INSPIRACION

Before someone tries to achieve a dream and passion, there’s always be something or
someone that will inspire that person in reaching his aspirations in life. Jose Rizal was not
different; he also has his own inspiration and his inspiration was his mother. As we all know, Jose
Rizal was a genius so at a young age he was already indulge to literature. He started making
poems and his first written poem was “Mi Primera Inspiracion” which was dedicated to his beloved
mother.

Doña Teodora was Jose Rizal’s mother and his first teacher but she was against of his
seventh son to continue his education in Manila because for her, Jose Rizal have studied enough
and the more he learns, the more the Spaniards will get suspicious about him. As Jose Rizal was
about to study in Ateneo, Doña Teodora was imprisoned due to false charges. During the Ateneo
years of Jose Rizal, he wrote “Mi Primera Inspiracion” in celebration for his mother’s birthday and
after 2 years, his mother was discharged from prison. Doña Teodora was a devoted mother; she
has sacrificed a lot for her family and taught Jose Rizal many things that’s why Jose Rizal’s first
poem was written because he served his mother as an inspiration. The poem conveys his
appreciation towards his mother because his mother played a vital role to his life. It also depicts
how he acknowledged his mother from all the sacrifices and unconditional love that his mother
had given. Undeniably, he also loves his mother very much so in a way of gratitude, he made the
poem for her. The Mi Primera Inspiracion is a poem full of joy and happiness because finally, her
mother was released from prison and it was his mother’s festivity. In addition, the poem was
written because of the strong relationship of Jose Rizal and his mother.

I’ve chosen this piece because I can totally relate my personal life to Jose Rizal but in a
different way. Just like our national hero, I have also my own inspiration in life and that is my
parents. Though, I haven’t done poems for them, I’ve always dedicated my studies for them. My
parents have done and taught many things as well so they deserve to be recognized. My
recognition that I can give to them is to do well in my studies and to obey them. The poem, “Mi
Primera Inspiracion” gives an impact to my life because despite of Jose Rizal’s achievement, he
haven’t forgotten to appreciate his parents and as part of this generation who sometimes fails to
appreciate our parents, we should be inspired by Jose Rizal in a way that no matter where we go
and what we do, we should give tribute to them. The poem can also be relevant to what’s
happening in the society because nowadays, we have this parent-child issue and this poem would
remind us the importance of a relationship of a parent and a child. As part of the society, the
poem had given an impact to many that being a national hero was not just loving the nation but
loving the people behind you and the people who are there for you from the very beginning. It is
because if you want to fight for what you believed in, you’ll think of your family to benefit from it
as well, not just the people of the nation. Our society have a lot of issues and I believe that in
order to resolve all the problems, we serve the people as our inspiration just how Jose Rizal
served his mother as his inspiration to achieve his passion so he could fight for liberty and
independence.

In conclusion, our inspirations will help us get through from everything. They are our
inspirations to do something and to achieve something. In this life, it’s hard to do it alone so there’s
got to be someone who will inspire you. Therefore, if you have reached that moment of joy and
success, it is important to appreciate and acknowledge the people who motivated and influenced
you to reach all your achievements.
