Question

Boba TV is a private television station that has its registered office in Ndola. Last week, the leading

political party in the country paid for air time for a recorded program that outlines its manifesto to

be aired on Boba TV. The editor of the station, Malita Nguzu, reviewed the content of the program

before it was aired, and she was satisfied that the content adhered to the programing regulations

that are prescribed by the Independent Broadcasting Authority. The program was aired at 19 30

hours on Friday last week. However, while the program was being televised, the District

Commissioner stormed the offices of Boba TV and ordered that the program should be

discontinued. He warned that stern action would be taken against Boba TV if the program was not

discontinued. Malita Nguzu refused to discontinue the program, as it was paid for and it did not

represent the views of Boba TV. The following day, the Independent Broadcasting Authority

announced that it had immediately suspended the broadcasting licence for Boba on the ground that

it sympathized with the opposition.

Advise Malita Nguzu on the legality of the decision that was made against Boba TV by the

Independent Broadcasting Authority.

or any attempt to replicate another person’s work as your own will earn you serious sanction by the faculty.
All work must be submitted over TURNITIN.
