Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy Level(s):

⌧ Remembering ⌧ Understanding ⌧ Applying ⌧ Analyzing ☐ Evaluating ☐ Creating

Levels of Technology Integration:

⌧ Infusion Level: Students may work at a higher Bloom’s Level, but they do not have any “Voice or Choice”
during the activity and most of the decisions are made by the teacher.

☐ Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is student-
driven. Students have “Voice and Choice” in the activities, selecting the topic of study and determining the
technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.

☐ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student work and
promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

It is expected that students will be in an asynchronous session in which they have to look at a lesson plan
through a recorded e-book video. Although the students are working individually in this context, a lot of the
information they will be recording in their science notebook will be beneficial in the synchronous class time.

Basic Productivity Tools (BPT)
For this lesson, I wanted to make sure that all students were met with the appropriate access to the lesson. I
created a normal PowerPoint in which students can just click the audio button on the bottom of the slides. I
also created a video of myself talking over the PowerPoint. I believe that this will serve as a great resource for
my students to reference back to when they are studying for summative assessments.

Lesson idea implementation:

Students will be working in an asynchronous session when viewing this lesson. Teachers should be
introducing this lesson to students during a synchronous session so that he/she can demonstrate how to
navigate PowerPoint. There is also an assignment that goes along with a video. The teacher should remind
students how to use Seesaw to access the assignment. Student learning will be assessed mainly through the
synchronous session that follows up after the lesson. The teacher will be asking questions about what a
mammal or an insect is. There was also a part of the lesson in which students will have to record what kind of
pet they have. This component will be directly related to the math lesson. This serves as a way to connect
both subjects and to show the relations between the two.

To extend student learning to a higher learning level, I could have an assignment in which students create a
virtual life cycle of an animal of their choice. The students could compile pictures of their chosen animal and
demonstrate their life cycle. I also could have implemented an interactive module in the lesson plan that
includes looking at a real-life timespan of a butterfly life cycle. This could have been in a span of days or a
week that the students will have to observe each day. Towards the end of the observation, the teacher and
the students could come together to discuss the observations that were interesting and shocking.

Reflective Practice:

I created this lesson because of my own experience of watching my little sister learn in asynchronous virtual
learning. I figured out the hard way that it’s quite hard to make a PowerPoint engaging. However, with some
research and understanding of instructional software and basic productivity tools, I was able to incorporate
different tools in the PowerPoint lesson plan. I really enjoyed creating the last slide that includes a virtual
classroom and a bitmoji of myself. Overall, I enjoyed creating this lesson. There are definitely a few things that
I could add on to, to make a better technological experience for my students.
