installation at Anton Paar GmbH) had failed, displaying an "Internal Memory Failure".
An additional routine has been included into the source code to overcome this failure.

Updated Information for v2.00

Software v2.00 now supports the new Rotor 16SOLV (i.e. all 16 IR-temperature graphs will be displayed
and stored).

Safety Check – Inner Temperature vs. IR Temperature

This function is intended to avoid that either a run is done with a defective sensor (prior to run) or continued after
a breakage of the capillary. With this function the software will help to avoid overheating of the vessel in case of
using a defective sensor (function originally introduced with software version v1.40).
Changes done in v2.00 (compared to v1.40):
Limit changed (reduced) to 20°C, i.e. as soon as the IR temperature value of vessel one exceeds the inner
temperature of the reference vessel by more than 20°C, the software will automatically abort the run and a pop-
up message will be displayed.

Rotor 8 – p(T)-Sensor has to be activated in setup menu

Limitation for MF100 Vessel improved

The operation limits for the MF100 vessel (since software version v1.40) have been adapted to allow a longer
run time if the vessel is not operated at maximum temperature limit.
New limits are:
Vessel operated between 150°C and 190°C:
 30 min maximum (hold time)
 Ramp time is no longer included
Therefore, you might be run the method for more than 30 minutes if you program a longer ramp (e.g. 15min
ramp to 175°C and additionally 30min hold time at this temperature = total run time of 45 minutes).
Valid for T- and P-Programs

Vessel operated below or up to 150°C:

 No time limitation
Only valid for temperature controlled runs.

Rotor EVAP - Protection Lid Detection deactivated

Because the Rotor EVAP is not equipped with a Protection Lid and due to an updated protection lid detection
circuit, the function "detection of rotor lid" has been deactivated for this rotor type.

SampleDoc – Vessel numbers included

The sample documentation field will now show a numbering at the left side, according to the rotor used (i.e. 1 – 8
for Rotor 8; 1 – 16 for Rotor 16…).

S-Control indication suppressed if less than five seconds

The "S-Control" which indicates that the 16A limits has been reached will only be displayed if the control takes
longer than 5 seconds.

Power Calibration Factor – Range extended

The range for the calculated power ratio has been extended so that you are now able to store new calibration
factors in a range of "0.7 to 1.3" (old: 0.8 – 1.2).

Review (Run Data) & Method Memory
Due to the combined software (Multiwave 3000 and Synthos 3000) the method files take more space therefore
the available memory for storing the run-data is reduced.
With the current method file the remaining memory space will allow you to collect run-data of approx. 6 hours of
work before the oldest data is deleted.
If you want to collect more than these six hours simply delete no longer needed methods.

Synthos 3000 / Multiwave 3000 version combined

Due to the fact that both instruments are almost identical, we have combined both software versions to a single
one. This will make it easier for us to maintain the software and allows our distribution partners to switch easily
between the two versions, so that you can use the same demo equipment for Multiwave 3000 and Synthos 3000
demonstrations without reinstalling the software all the time.
To switch between the two versions, enter the System Constant menu; use the pgU/pgD keys on the external
keyboard to select the desired version.

IR Control Parameters
The IR Control Parameters have been made editable for further improvements of the IR control function.
You must not change any of these parameters without written permission of Anton Paar GmbH.

"Starting pressure out of range" message improved (Rotor 8)

Version v1.52
Bug-fix Epson Printer Support
The problem in printing graphics with old EPSON needle printers has been corrected.

Bug-fix Power Board Firmware v11 Support

Older instruments, running a Power Board with firmware v11 have caused a "Missing Safety Module" error even
with normal decomposition rotors. Up to now, the only possibility to run a Rotor 48 on such instruments was to
upgrade the firmware (i.e. replacing the firmware chip) which needed the visit of a service engineer.
Version v1.52 corrects this bug.

Transmission Factor Range extended (IR Sensor)

The range of the transmission factor has been extended to ensure that even a slightly discoloration of the IR
sensor's Fresnel lens does not affect the IR calibration.
The new range is from 0.390 to 0.690

Version v1.51
New Rotor Type – Rotor 48MF50
The rotor list has been extended and includes now the following additional rotor:

Rotor type: Temperature limit: IR-temperature limit: Operation pressure limit:

MF50 200°C 140°C 20 bar

Please note, run-data will contain only the 16 IR values, from the middle circle of vessels.

Start Sequence enhanced

Start procedure has been rewritten to improve the detection of the Safety Module SOLV and the Exhaust Unit.

Minor Restrictions / Problems

Rotor 8SOLV
When starting a SOLV method the instrument will prompt to check the water level of the condensation bottles
and that all hoses are connected to the hose connector.
Due to the modified safety concept (i.e. no condensation bottles) this message is no longer valid and can be
ignored (i.e. confirmed with yes).

Rotor16SOLV
The new Rotor16SOLV is not fully supported in software v1.51, i.e. only 8 of 16 vessels will be shown in the IR-
temperature diagram and run-data.

Version v1.40
IR Limit – MF100 changed to 160°C
The max. IR Limit of the MF100 vessel is reduced from 180°C to 160°C.
All stored and programmed methods will be updated automatically. This updated value is more accurate (heat
transmission between inside and outside of the vessel) and will improve the life time of the jackets especially if
Rotor 16MF100 is used without pT-Sensor.

Operation Time Limit for MF100 vessel

To ensure safe operation of the MF100 vessel and accounting for the material properties we have limited the
maximum operation time to 30min (cooling time not included).

New Application – O2 Combustion included

Anton Paar extends the versatility and flexibility of its Multiwave 3000 Microwave Sample Preparation System by
introducing accessories for Microwave-induced Oxygen Combustion (MOC)
Software v1.40 now fully supports this kind of application for Rotor 8XQ80, "O2-Combustion" can be additionally
selected instead of T-Program or P-Program.
The power and time settings can be reduced by the customer but not exceeded, a ramp is not programmable.

Security Cooling enhanced

Customer Settings:
The customer can now change the temperature limits for the automatic stop of the security cooling to a lower
value.
Possible range for the temperature limits:
Tinside: 60°C to 40°C
TIR: 50°C to 40°C
Additionally the time setting for the security cooling can be increased to a maximum of "99min 59s".

Solvent Runs:
Due to a volatility of solvents even at low temperatures (compared to acids) the temperature limits for the
security cooling after a solvent application have been changed to the following fixed values (not influenced by
customer settings):
Tinside: 40°C
TIR: 40°C
The default setting for the security cooling is intensity "2" for reasons of noise reduction.

Fan 0 only during first program step

For some special methods it might be necessary to use fan intensity "0" during the first step of the program.
Therefore the software allows to use this low intensity during the first step of the program but will automatically
adjust the fan intensity to "1" for the steps 2 – 4.
If you have equipped the instrument with a Safety Module SOLV, fan 1 will be used even for step 1. Otherwise
the safety module will report an error message.

Power Defaults during program start

To avoid unsteady power consumption during the first few seconds of the run, while the magnetrons are still
cold, the power output is limited to 1200W during the first 30 seconds of an "Power Program" even if the set
point is 1400W.
Additionally the default setting for "Temperature Programs" is 1200W, but this value can be changed by the
customer.

Start Sequence enhanced

The software v1.40 will not continue with the start procedure if an activated sensor does not respond during the
system check (possible reasons can be a failure of the sensor or the sensor is not installed). The customer has
to deactivate the sensor in the setup program if the method should be used without sensor or has to check the
sensor.
The p-Sensor of the Rotor 8 is not affected by this function as this Rotor can't be used without pressure control.
If you try to start a run with a defective p-Sensor the software will pop up the error message "Invalid Rotor Type".

Switch Off Limits

Reaching the following limits the software will automatically interrupt the run:

Control Parameter: Switch Off Condition:

(max. Limit +…)

Pressure: +1 bar

Pressure rate: +0.1 bar/s

Temperature: +5 °C

IR-Temperature: +5 °C

Remote Control via Terminal Program

The main key functions of the Multiwave 3000 can be remote controlled via a serial link cable and a terminal
program.
Following keys are supported:
<Stop>, <Start>, <DEL>, <Backspace>, <ESC>, <Tab>, <Enter>, <Up> (cursor up), <Down> (cursor down),

Safety Surveillance System

This software function checks important parameters prior to the start of a run as well as during the run and will
interrupt (stop) the run immediately if the limit of one of these parameters is exceeded.
These limits are:
General for all Rotor Types:
Start Temperature (T-Probe, pT-Sensor) > 9°C
The start temperature has to be higher than 9°C otherwise the instrument will not start the run but report an error
message. The customer has to check for any signs of damages and correct calibration.

Inner Temperature < 50% of the IR Temperature

This function is intended to avoid that either a run is done with a defective sensor (prior to run) or continued after
a breakage of the capillary. With this function the software will help to avoid overheating of the vessel in case of
using a defective sensor.
If the inside temperature does not increase during the first minutes of the run, the software will interrupt the run
immediately as soon as the IR temperature has reached twice the inner temperature.
During the run, the software will automatically stop the run if the inside temperature drops down to a value less
than 50% of the IR temperature.

Inside temperature increase (instruments without IR Sensor only)

When using instruments without IR Sensor the software will automatically check the temperature increase. If the
temperature is not higher than 35°C within the first 5 min the run will be interrupted.
This software function will avoid that the run can be started with an already broken capillary but will not react if
the capillary breaks during the run!

Especially for Rotor 8:

Starting Pressure Surveillance
During the start routines the software will check if the starting pressure of the rotor is between 2 and 10 bar. If
the pressure is outside of this specification, the software will interrupt the starting procedure showing a pop-up
error message. The customer has to check if the rotor upper plate is screwed down properly.
Please note that for O2 – combustions the permitted starting pressure has to be within the range of 2 to 25 bar
so that the vessels can be preloaded with oxygen.

Pressure dropdown during run

If the pressure of the rotor 8 drops down below 2 bar during the run the software will immediately stop the run as
well as the exhaust unit and magnetron fan. An error message will be displayed with a warning of a possible fire
inside the oven. This function will cover cases where the hydraulic system is affected by a melting or fire. By
switching off the fans the oxygen supply is stopped.

The graphic print out (review protocols) now includes two additional lines with additional information about the
maximum temperature of the two magnetrons and the sensor (pT-Sensor, R8):

The temperature limit for the Toil/Tgas is 90°C and for Tmagn1/Tmagn2 it is 150°C.
The "Status Word: nnnnnnnn" is for special service cases only.

Minor Changes
Serial Port Setup (Text Compression)
The default parameter for "Text Compression" is now "high".

Numeric Screen during run

With version v1.40 you will have the "p-rate limit" displayed within the "Numeric" window during the run. The
"Date/Time" information has been removed within this window.

Serial Number displayed in Info Screen

The instrument serial number can be seen in the "Info" menu of the software. This facilitates access to the serial
number.

Version v1.27
Exhaust Unit Type EU2.0 fully supported:
The new exhaust unit ("EU2.0") needs a different fan-level adjustment than the old type. Therefore a new entry
in the service menu (Service => "Exhaust Unit Installation") has been created.
For optimal cooling efficiency, it is important to select the correct exhaust unit type. For maintenance purposes
you can check the runtime of each cooling unit. Refer to the instruction manual => software (B83IB01-A or
higher)

IR Sensor Calibration/Check:
To improve the accuracy of the IR temperature measurement, the new software includes an "IR Sensor
Calibration" function as well as an "IR Sensor Check" function.
This functions require an upgraded "Temperature Calibration Accessory (T/IR)” (Part No. 16486)
Caution: Running an IR sensor calibration/check without this special accessory will result in a misadjusted IR
measurement and may result in damage to the vessels and or rotor parts.
Before performing the calibration of the IR-sensor read the instruction manual => software (B83IB01-A or higher)

Changed vessel temperature limits:

vessel type: interior temperature limit: IR-temperature limit:

XQ 280°C 280°C

Method administration:
You can download the methods file to an external computer and upload it to any other Multiwave 3000.
Existing "Paar"-Methods will now be deleted prior to installing the new method file. Updated procedures will not
cause double entries anymore. User methods will remain on the instrument.

U User Break The user pressed the STOP key or opened the oven

S Power Supply Limitation The microwave power was reduced due to high current
consumption of the Multiwave 3000

M Magnetron Over-temperature The microwave power was reduced due to an over-temperature of

the Magnetrons.

o Sensor Over-temperature The microwave power was reduced due to an over-temperature of

the pressure or the temperature sensor (e.g. p-Sensor, pT-Sensor,
T-Probe).

Version v1.24.1
Rotor signal readout adjusted to Rotor 8XF/XQ:
The software now is able to work with both types of Rotor 8 (XQ80 and XF100).

Hint: You have to install software version v1.24.1 to work with Rotor 8XQ/XF

Version v1.24
Changed vessel temperature limits:

Vessel type: Interior temperature limit: IR-temperature limit:

MF100 190°C 180°C

HF100 240°C 210°C

EF100 190°C 180°C

HEAT 190°C 180°C

Security Cooling:
If any cooling phase is programmed shorter than the security cooling setting the system will automatically add
the needed time for proper cooling with the current fan level.
If no cooling phase (cooling phase means Power = 0W and Fan = stage 2 or higher) is programmed the system
will add a security cooling based on the current security cooling setting.
With activated sensors the security cooling will stop automatically when following limits are reached:
Interior temperature lower than 60°C AND exterior (IR) temperature lower than 50°C
(If the limits are not reached after the costumer programmed cooling phase the system will add the security
cooling automatically)

Exterior (IR) Temperature Controller:

New parameters for the controller (set @ Anton Paar factory):
P: = 20
I: = 0.001
If the controller overshoots the controller will be reset.
IR-Temperature limit for "OVERRANGE" set to 3°C to avoid overshoot.

Pulsed cooling mode (@Anton Paar factory):

Under "Advanced Service Routines" / "Fan Level Settings" the fan stage "0" can be operated in pulse mode.
(pulse wide in percent starting with 10% up to 100%)
That means:

Pulse [%]: Time ON: Time OFF:

10 1 second(s) 9 second(s)

20 2 second(s) 8 second(s)

30 3 second(s) 7 second(s)

40 4 second(s) 6 second(s)

50 5 second(s) 5 second(s)

60 6 second(s) 4 second(s)

70 7 second(s) 3 second(s)

80 8 second(s) 2 second(s)

90 9 second(s) 1 second(s)

100 (default) continuously ON no pulsing

Alteration corresponding to Power Board firmware V11:

- Power Board firmware version can be verified easily through the user interface software
- The Power Board reset will be performed after the CPU initialization
- During the CPU initialization the fan increase will be set to 100/s
