Advantages of FT-NIR
Why do we need high resolution?

• Not only for solving application questions (mostly 8cm-1

is enough)
• But also for measuring the x-axis accuracy of the
instrument
• Wavelength repeatability: 0.04 cm-1
• Wavelength accuracy: 0.1 cm-1
• X-axis stability is the key for
• Permanently reliable predictions
• Calibration transfer

13 21.11.2014
Advantages of FT-NIR
Calibration Transfer:
The exceptional performance of the instrument ensures a smooth calibration
transfer not only to other MPA instruments but also to the MATRIX process
spectrometers.

Content Uniformity

Why is Content Uniformity Important?

•The pharmaceutical industry produces over

100,000,000,000 tablets annually
•Tablet “sub-potency” is the #2 reason for
FDA recalls.
•Typical tableting equipment produces 10,000
tablets/min.
•Current USP protocols specifies for content
uniformity, “Assay 10 units individually..” For
dissolution “Take 6 units”.

Are 10 units really representative of

the manufacturing batch?
