Durant Eclipse Series Totalizer Setup ‘The following directions are for programming the Durant Digital Display. The manufacturer's manual Number 57700-980-03 is a general manual for all Eclipse series totalizers and counters, Itis not specifically for the 5701-482, Thus, it has some information in it about options or functions that are not available with the specific display provided by Telsmith. The following instructions are specific for the operation of the 57701-482 Durant display. All. wiring is done to the rear of the display. There are four de-pluggable connectors for wiring. The fifth connector is made up of six DIP switches. Disconnect all power before wiring terminals. ‘Rear Terminal Layout Rey R485, ‘Araiog DP Sach Dip Switch Settings: There is six DIP switches that need to be set before powering up the display. The top switch is number 6 and the bottom switch is number 1. The switches can be toggled lett or right. The order of the settings from the top switch to the bottom switch is as follows: Switch 6 — left (for A single ended input) Switch 5 — right (for A slow response (<200Hz)) Switch 4 ~ right (for A sinking (NPN) input) Switch 3 — left (for B single ended input) Switeh 2 ~ right (for B slow response (<200Hz)) Switeh 4 — right (for B sinking (NPN) input) AC Power Input Connector: The input power requirement of the display is 120 VAC 60/60 Hz. The third terminal on the connector is not used and should be left empty. Count Input Connector: The display provides +12 VOC power to the sensor. The power wires to the sensor are terminal numbers 1 and 4, Terminal 3s input 1 from the sensor and terminal 2 is input 2 from the sensor. Analog Output Connector: The output ratings ofthis connector are 4-20 mA or 0-10 V. It is expected that the installer will use one of the other. This connector can be used to connect to a remote device ike a PLC or DCS. The output is scaleable for negative and positive values. Control input Connector: Make sure there is a jumper wire between the terminals labeled Input 1 and Input 4 of the Control Input connector. This jumper allows the installer to “lock out" the display so only individuals with ‘experience in programming this display wil be able to access the programming function codes. ‘This jumper should be removed when the installer powers up the display for the first time, With. the jumper removed, the installer can go into the Program Mode and start to set up the display. ‘When the installer is finished programming the function codes and the display has been placed in the Run Mode, the jumper has to be put back in Input 1 and Input 4 for “lock out" to be active. Disconnect all power to the display when removing or installing the jumper. Entering the Program Modé Reference page 10 of the Durant Installation and Operations Manual Number 57700-980-03 for explanations of how to scroll through the active function code list and how to change the value of a function code. There are a total of 33 function codes listed in the Durant Manual. The installer will need to program 15 function codes to customize the display to fit the requirements of this application. Each function code has a number and a field of values. Al of the operator functions are performed on the front of the display. The front face of the display features a six-digit LED display, a keypad containing four keys, and an indicating LED. To enter the program mode, press the “View/Enter” and “Edit” keys on the front ofthe display at the same time. The display will show “FC 0 for one second, then it will show the value selected {or "FC 0”. To see the function code on the isplay, press and hold the “View/Enter” key. The display will show the function code “FC 0” as long as the “View/Enter” button is held down. To soroll through the active funtion code list, while holding down “View/Einter*, press the far right “down arrow” key to advance to the next function code. The display ascends numerically to the next function code in the list each time the “down arrow” key is pressed, and descends each time the “up arrow” key is pressed. To show the value of the function code that is currently being displayed, release the “View/Enter” key. To change the value of a function code, press the “Edit” key, then the most significant digit of the value will flash. Next, use the “up arrow” and “down arrow’ keys to change the value of the flashing digit. Then press the “View/Enter” key to enter the new value and to display the function code number. To exit the Program Mode, press the “View/Enter” and “Edit” keys simultaneously. The Count and Rate Scaling section on page 10 of the Durant Manual will not be used. The installer will set up the Scaling Mode (Iunction code 0) to a value of 2. This sets the display for traditional scaling. Then set the Count Scaler (function code 2) to one of the values below depending on the type of Gyrasphere crusher the installer has. Machine 38 — value to be entered is 7.82657 Machine 44 ~ value to be entered is 7.36805 Machine 52 — value to be entered is 6.71044 Machine 87 — value to be entered is 5.35987 Machine 68 - value to be entered is 4.95682 ‘The CDP (function code 3) selects the location of the decimal point for the digital display. Enter in the value 3. This is the maximum value. ‘The display will act as a counter, so the rate function will not be utilized. Therefore, values for the Rate Scaler (function 4) and RDP (function 5) can be lett at their displayed default values. ‘The sensor is supplying a dual input response to the display, so the Count Mode (function 7) will be set at value 3 for Quadrature X1. The quadrature function looks at the two wave responses {rom the sensor that are 90° out of phase. By looking at the waves the display is able to count Up or down by determining whether a wave is on its rising or falling edge. Set the Rollunder (function 11) to the value of 1 for the count to roll under to ~1 instead of returning to 999,999 once the counter is equal to 0. The display is being utlized as a counter, so leave the Rate Display (function 14) at its default value of 0. Then set the Totalizer Display (function 16) value equal to 1 so the display acts lke a counter. Control Inputs (function 20) controls the operation of the hard-wired Control inputs that are wired to the back of the display. The default setting is 000. Set the value to 201 so the previously described wiring of the Control Inputs will be active. ‘Simultaneously pressing the two “Reset buttons on the front of the display will reset whatever value is being displayed to 0 only if in the Program Mode the Keypad Reset (function 23) is set to the value of 1 Set Load Defaults (function 50) to its defauited value of 0. If set toa value of 1 or 2, the display will delete all of the installer’s newly entered function code values. Installer will than have to re- enter all of the values for the various function codes over again. To initiate the analog output card, set Analog Assignment (function 70) equal to 1. This configures the analog output to follow the displayed total. The 4-20 mA output will represent the number being shown on the display. Scaling the 4-20 mA output signal requires the installer to enter in values for Analog Offset (function 71) and Analog Full Scale (function 72). Function 71 sets up the displayed value that is, equivalent to the minimum value of 4 mA. Function 72 sets up the displayed value that is equivalent to the maximum value of 20 mA. Set function 71 to ~2000 and function 72 to 10000. Therefore, when the displayed value or value shown on the digital display is -2.000, the analog reading Is 4 mA and when the displayed value is 10.000, the measured analog reading is 20 mA Another good way to make sure the scaling is correct is when the display reads 0.000, the analog value is 6.66 mA, To put the display into run mode, just press the “View/Enter’ and the “Edit” keys at the same time Con the front ofthe display. ll that should be visible on the display is 0.000. Ifthe value is something other than 0.000, press the two “Reset” buttons on the front of the display. The installer should now re-install the jumper that was removed earlier from the Control Input connector on the rear of the display. Disconnect all power to the display before removing or installing the jumper. With the jumper installed, the installer can try to go into the Program Mode by pressing the “View/Enter” and “Edit” keys at the same time and the 0.000 will still be displayed. The display is in “lock-out”. The only function available to the operator Is to reset the displayed value to 0. If the Program Mode must be accessed after inital installation, remove the jumper wire and go through the programming procedure again.
