load, and the negative(-) of the battery to the negative(-) of the charger or the
load respectively.
If the storage battery and the charger are connected erroneously, the
charger will be damaged.
Be sure not to make an erroneous connection.
The tightening torque for each connecting bolt and nut shall be in
accordance with Table 1.
Table 1. : Tightening Torque for Connecting Bolts and Nuts
2.2 Charge
(1) Charging Voltage
Floating charge voltage shall be maintained across the terminals
constantly at the values shown in Table 3.
Table 3 : Charging Voltage
Max. Charge
Using Type Charging Voltage(V)
Current(CA)
Floating Use 2.23~2.25V /Cell 0.25
Cycle Use 2.40V /Cell 0.25
The effects of too high or too low a charging voltage are as follows : Too high
for extended period(over-charge) : Shortens life
Too low for extended period(under-charge) : May not satisfy load or cause
variance in battery voltage
- 2 -
Recovery charge shall be performed with the same set voltage as charging
Voltage shown in Table 3
While initial charge current is not specially specified, if shortening of
charge time(capacity recovery within 24 hours) is sought, 0.1C - 0.2C
amperes would be appreciate.
(3) Temperature compensation of the charging voltage
As a general rule, in order to attain optimum service life, the use of a
temperature compensated charger is recommended. The recommended
compensation factor for ESG batteries is -3mV/℃/cell.
example) If battery surrounding temperature is 40℃, float charge voltage
set up 13.38V
13.65V + {(40-25)℃×(-3mV/℃/cell)×6cell} = 13.38V

(2) Six-Months Inspection
- 4 -
(4) A storage battery is liable to rupture if thrown into fire. Avoid such
conduct at all times.
(5) When the storage battery is to be contained in a container or bag, a
ventilation opening should be provided. A cubicle containing the battery
and a storage battery room should be provided with sufficient
ventilation.
(6) One may get electric shock if touches electrically conductive part. Be
sure to wear rubber gloves before inspection or maintenance work.
(7) Apply lightly a rust preventing agent for lead acid storage batteries on
connections of the storage battery.
(8) Permissible temperature range of battery use is -15~40℃, but use at
5~30℃ range is recommended as far as practicable.
Battery temperature should not need exceed 45℃ in service.
(9) When the storage battery will be used in parallel connection, consult
withus prior to use.
(10)Mixed use of storage batteries with different capacities, different
histories and of different manufactures is liable to cause damages to the
storage battery or the equipment. Consult with us if such necessity is
present.
3. Storage
(1) When to store the storage battery, disconnect if from the charger and
load, and store it, if possible, at dry location with low temperature.

②The battery charger to be used should be the one provided with
automatic constant voltage equipment having drooping characteristics. If
other charger than this type is used, consult with us prior to use.
