John Michael Green or best known as John Green, is an American author, blogger,
writer, producer, novelist, actor and editor. Aside from being a novelist, Green is
also well known for his YouTube ventures. He was born on August 24 of 1977 in
Indianapolis, United States. His parents Mike and Sydney Green, and his brother
Hank Green ( so important for John Green career) were a great support and guides
for him to move forward and reach his goals.

Early life and career start

He and his family has moved to Michigan, then later Birmingham, Alabama, and
finally to Orlando, Florida. His travels experiences was the inspiration for the main
setting of his first book, Looking for Alaska; in his childhood He has spoken about
being bullied and how it had made life as a teenager miserable for him, this
experience was also an inspiration for him for future texts

After the school he tried to study medicine and psychology but it wasn´t for him,
but he practiced with children suffering from life-threatening illnesses, this was
another inspiration for him, in this case to write THE FAULT IN OUR STARS. Then he
moved to Chicago to study publishing and he start as publishing assistance and
production editor, he started to read a lot of books and created an original radio, a
Chicago´s public radio station.

Career

John Green's first novel, Looking for Alaska, won the 2006 Michael L. Printz Award
presented by the American Library Association. His second novel, An Abundance of
Katherines, was a 2007 Michael L. Printz Award Honor Book His next novel, Paper
Towns, is a New York Times bestseller and won the Edgar Allen Poe Award for Best
YA Mystery. In January 2012, his most recent novel, The Fault in Our Stars, was
met with wide critical acclaim, unprecedented in Green's career.

Outside of his career

John lives with his wife Sarah Urist Green and his two children Henry and Alice in
his native city, Indianapolis
John and Hank (brother) launched an educational YouTube channel Crash Course
in late 2011 with funding from YouTube’s original channel initiative. John, Hank,
and a range of other hosts teach humanities and science courses to viewers, with
multiple new series launching each year. They talk about: World History,
Literature, Economics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and Government

John Green is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Looking for Alaska, An
Abundance of Katherines, Paper Towns, and The Fault in Our Stars.

In 2007, John and his brother Hank were the hosts of a popular internet blog,
"Brotherhood 2.0," where they discussed their lives, books and current events
every day for a year except for weekends and holidays. They still keep a video blog,
now called "The Vlog Brothers”

John is also an active Twitter user with more than 5 million followers.

Green has obsessive-compulsive disorder and has discussed his struggles with
mental illness extensively on YouTube.
