IV. PROCEDURES
A. Introduction What I need to know?

This learning material contains learning outcome 1 – Identify caregiving


tools, equipment and paraphernalia applicable to the specific job.

One of the most important tasks of a caregiver is to make sure that he/she
uses the right equipment, tool, or paraphernalia that is applicable to a specific
job. You, as a future caregiver, therefore, should be well versed with the
different tools and equipment that you will use when you are already in the
health care profession.
Classification of tools, equipment, and paraphernalia
 Used for meal preparation
 Used for cleaning, laundry, and ironing
 Used for taking vital signs

Note: Kindly use a one whole sheet of paper or a yellow paper to answer all
the learning activities. Don’t forget to write the learning activity numbers.

Directions: Compile (5) pictures of the different caregiving equipment,


tools and paraphernalia (You can print a picture or draw). Make a
handbook that will be used for a future caregiver like you. Provide a
summary which presents the equipment, tools and paraphernalia
according to its classification, use and function. A sample guide is
provided for you.

The learners will demonstrate their ideas and gained knowledge and
skills as how these tools, equipment and paraphernalia useful in one’s day to
day living experiences.

Direction: Write a short paragraph expressing your ideas, gained knowledge


and skills as how the above paraphernalia are useful in one’s day to day
living experience.

Example:

A bottle sterilizer belongs to tools, equipment and


paraphernalia for cleaning.
Most mothers used this bottle sterilizer to make sure that the
baby feeding bottles are clean and sterilized so it will be safe to
used when the baby will drink milk. Especially now that
everything should be clean and sanitized.

Direction: Write A if the statement is correct (1point) and if the statement is


wrong, write the words that makes the statement correct (2).

cuff that can be applied with one hand for self-testing.

______________7. A thermometer is an instrument for measuring


temperature.
