Aspiring India: Changing dynamics of India’s Foreign Policy under Modi

Modi government is completed its first term and begins the his second term with a overwhelming
majority, he country’s foreign policy has undergone a remarkable transformation in the short span of five
years since Modi first came to power in May 2014, The Modi government has left its unique imprint in a
five years of in his first term; it has made clear its objective of positioning India as a leading global
player. As eBook of Ministry of external affairs styled modi’s foreign policy as “break through
diplomacy”, diplomacy for development” and foreign secretary of India shayam saran has dubbed
modi’s style at international stage as “modiplomacy”.
As K.C. Singh said “foreign policy of a nation is like a river, forever flowing, although great leaders
augment its flow or redirect its course”. So though modi’s foreign policy was laid on old foundations, yet
his way of towards policy making is more forceful, personal, and peculiar.
As Above Indian Foreign policy is Like a River , Forever Flowing , it has Always signified impact on
the domestic and international level polity, foundations for India’s foreign policy is started since 1947
after independence , and foundation laid by Nehru foreign policies like Panchasheel , Non- Alignment ,by
then it evolved to GujralDoctrine to a present Regime Modi Doctrine . So we can say that Indian foreign
policy is Static and Dynamic and has a capacity for constant changing According to the External
Circumstances OR progress of a particular Process.
In this first Section of the paper discussion is on what is Modi foreign policy (Modi Doctrine), what are
trends and Features of modi’s Foreign Policy, is Changing Inventible? Does India’s foreign policy keep
changing? Major events that have shaped India’s Foreign Policy, and is that dynamics foreign Policy
greater Appetite for Risk Taking? Main focus is on the distinguishing elements under prime minister
modi , which are different for previous Regime like “India First” policy , Shifting to Act East Policy
From Look east Policy and its implications, Neighbourhood First Policy, make in India Campaign ,
Aspiring for Leading Role rather to be a balancing Power, zero Terror Policy and “Modi Hug “ Policy
In the Second Section of the Paper Discussion is on what are Challenges to the foreign policy in present
era like Terrorism and Drug Trafficking, connectivity etc. And critical Perspective, Failures of Foreign
Policy under the Modi 1.0 regime.
In conclusion as we can say while there is a continuity In India’s foreign policy under modi , there are
new points of emphasis ; 3ps : primacy to economic diplomacy , priority to neighbourhood ,prominence
to Indian Diaspora, in another way we can say like 3C’s : Connectivity , commercial ties , Cultural
Bonds.

and memory on a small scale. Further research in the area is needed for a
more complete understanding of how memory functions in dysphoric
individuals, and may be used to augment or create treatment techniques.
