SUBJECT: RESEARCH ON THE IMPACT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON THE

JAMAICAN EDUCATION SYSTEM

Dear Colleagues,

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Information (MoEYI) through the National
Council on Education (NCE), an agency of the Ministry, is currently undertaking a
comprehensive research to garner information on the following areas:

(a) assess our response to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic

(b) determine its likely impact in the short and medium terms, and

(c) devise strategies to address problems arising from the impact.

Questionnaires are currently being administered to a sample of primary,

secondary and tertiary institutions, targeting parents, teachers, students and
principals. A key output of the research is to prepare an Education Sector Plan to
address the challenges that schools and other educational institutions will
continue to experience in the next 12 to 18 months.

The NCE encourages key stakeholders in education, particularly principals,

teachers, students and parents to participate in this important research by
completing the relevant questionnaire and submitting to the organization by
