Tasks
1. Open QGIS Desktop by double-clicking on the QGIS 2.18.16 shortcut form the QGIS 2.18 folder
on the desktop

2. When you double-click the software will load for a while, it may take some time since it will be its
first time running.
3. Click OK on the QGIS Tips! page. If you do not want the page to reappear every other time that
you open QGIS then select I’ve had enough, don’t show this on start up anymore!

Now add GIS shapefiles (layers) in the folder GIS Data Visualisation to the view
4. To add the data to the view click Layer and the select Add Vector Layer from the Add Layer
option as shown below.

5. Display only the Zimbabwe shapefiles
6. Zoom in and see the features in the layers
7. Now display the Zimbabwe boundary and the Landsat scene reference
8. Using the Identify tool can you identify the various scene references of areas in Zimbabwe
9. Now display the Zimbabwe boundary and the UTM zone boundaries
10. Using the Identify tool can you identify the UTM zones in which Zimbabwe lies.

11. Click on New Project (Don’t save anything from the previous project)
12. Add the shapefiles for Gweru in the folder Gweru_Data including the Digital Elevation Model
13. Now Repeat processes that you carried out in Task 5, 6, 7 and 8
