NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO THE MECHANICAL
AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU DO REPAIRS ON OR NEAR COMPONENTS THAT MOVE, MAKE SURE THAT ALL CLEARANCES STAY IN THE
SPECIFIED LIMITS. CLEARANCES THAT ARE NOT IN THE LIMITS CAN PREVENT THE CORRECT OPERATION OF THE
COMPONENTS.
1. Task Supporting Data
A. General
This task contains the specific repair procedure for the Trimmable Horizontal Stabilizer Tip. The repair zones and allowable
damage data for this repair procedure are in Chapter 55-14-00 - Allowable Damages.
NOTE: This task is applicable for all A320-200 WV listed in the SRM Introduction.
D. Limits/Restrictions
The repair filler thickness after modification 33060 G0400 is 1.2 mm (0.047 in) and before modification 33060 G0400 is 0.8 mm
(0.031 in).

NOTE: Make the filler piece 1 mm (0.04 in) smaller than the skin cut out dimension. Refer to Figure 001.
(8) Radius the corners of the repair doubler and chamfer the edges.
(9) Mark the position of the new fastener holes on the repair doubler. Refer to Figure 001.
CAUTION: DURING DRILLING OPERATIONS, MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE INTERNAL
STRUCTURE OR COMPONENTS.
(10) Pilot drill the marked fastener holes.
(11) Place the repair doubler into its correct repair position on the repair area and secure.
(12) Pilot drill through the pre-drilled holes in the repair doubler and through the skin structure.
(13) Secure the repair doubler with screw pins.
(14) Place the filler piece into its correct repair position on the repair area.
NOTE: Make certain there is a 1 mm (0.04 in) gap between the outer edges of the filler piece and the skin cut out. Refer to
Figure 001.
(15) Mark the position of the new fastener holes on the filler.
(16) Remove the filler piece from the repair area and pilot drill the marked fastener holes.
(17) Place the repair filler into its correct repair position on the repair area and secure with screw pins.
(18) Pilot drill through the pre-drilled holes in the repair filler and through the repair doubler.
(19) Drill all the holes full size for the fasteners. Refer to Figure 001.
(20) Remove the screw pins, drill the screw pin holes full size for the fasteners. On completion, remove the repair filler and repair
doubler from the repair area.
(21) Remove any sharp edges with an abrasive cone.
(22) Clean the repair area with a vacuum cleaner.
(23) Clean the repair area, repair doubler and filler piece with the cleaning agent (Material No. 08BBF1).
(24) Apply the surface protection to the repairs parts:

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU APPLY CHROMIC ACID ANODIZING (CAA) AND CHEMICAL CONVERSION
COATING. THE CHEMICALS USED ARE POISONOUS AND CAN CAUSE INJURY. SEE THE MATERIAL
SAFETY DATA SHEETS.
(a) Apply chromic acid anodizing to the repair doubler and filler. Refer to PMS Chapter 01-02-08.
Alternatively chemical conversion coating (Material No. 10ABC1) can be used.
(b) Apply a coat of polyurethane primer (Material No. 16-001B or Material No. 16-001C) followed by a polyurethane top
coat (Material No. 16-018C) to the repair parts.
(25) Apply the correct surface protection to the edges of the skin cut out (Material No. 10ABC1).
(26) Apply a coating of the sealant (Material No. 06AAC1) to the surface of the repair doubler and filler piece.
(27) Place the repair doubler and filler piece into their correct repair positions on the repair area and secure with screw pins.
(28) Apply a fillet of sealant (Material No. 06AAC1) between the filler piece and the inside edge of the cut out area. Refer to
Figure 001.
(29) Remove any unwanted sealant with the cleaning agent (Material No. 08BBF1).
(30) Protect the repair area to prevent contamination ingress.
(31) Cure the installed repair materials.
