03 Basic Productivity Tools Lesson Idea Template
Lesson idea implementation: In this lesson the students in the class will be divided into 3 or 4 groups and
tasked with researching different forms of energy used on earth and then come up with an argument as to
why the world should be using this energy form. Whether the energy sources are renewable, reusable, or
even neither the students are still tasked with coming up with an argument as to why we should only use this
energy. This method will not only make students an expert on their topic, but when each group presents the
other groups will take notes on the others presentation for the topic. The grade will be decided by a rubric
generated with criteria met, but it will also have a factor of students grading each other’s arguments and
deciding a winner. I hate when classes do debates and there is no winner decided and I feel like students felt
the same and when there are bonus points on the line for the winner it encourages them more.
At the end of this lesson after each class has presented their PowerPoints, we will have a discussion on the
topic. This would be the day after or so and I feel like it will give students a chance to express their opinions
on the project and on the content. Some students may have been placed in group where they must argue a
point where they didn’t agree with the use of an energy source, so this allows them to express their true
opinion. This also allows students who may have learned something about their source that made them
change the way they think about something the regularly and make a change in their life and I would love for
students be able to talk about that.

Basic Productivity Tools (BPT)
I think the activity created is a great way for students to get experience researching a topic and get
experience in the position of an expert. This allows for students to teach students rather than the typical
teacher preaching at students. I believe that this activity would be an ending activity of a lesson rather than
an introduction so I would not know how to extend this lesson. I think the biggest problem with this lesson
would be that further using productivity tools on a deeper level. Productivity tools are used for students to
express their understanding and create a product and in this case I don’t know how to deepen the use of
productivity tools.
