Hi, student!

Welcome to our Environmental Science modular class.


I am Ms. Richel L. Maquiling from the BS Computer Engineering Department and
I will be your instructor for this subject. For this summer class, we will be using this
module as your home tool kit. For the guidelines how to use this, you may refer to
the Class Rules section below. As this modular class is using a self-paced learning
approach, you are expected to have honesty and integrity in doing your activities
and punctuality in submitting this module on time. For your queries and concerns,
you are free to contact me through the information given below.

ONLINE: An Introductory Video will be posted in the Google Classroom under Week 1

DESCRIPTIVE
: Environmental Science

Scope:

This course is designed for students to understand how lives of all the components of the natural
world, the Earth, are interrelated. It allows them to identify the existing environmental problems,
understand their causes and assess the associated risks that come with it, which leads them to create and
apply preventive measures and alternative solutions, protect and utilize natural resources responsibly,
help control environmental pollutions, and improve environmental quality to enabling healthy
ecosystems and comfortable habitation of humans.

Course Outcomes:
After completing the course, the student must be able to:

1. Recognize and assess the present situation of the ecosystems and human society.
2. Distinguish and evaluate environmental risks and environmental problems.
3. Develop action plans to minimize/eliminate risks and environmental problems.
4. Select and apply appropriate methods of treatments and solutions for environmental problems
present in a specific area.
5. Develop students’ environmental ethics, literacy, and an appreciation for the environmental
impacts of their future careers.
6. Help improve the environmental quality for a healthy ecosystems and comfortable habitation for
the society and wildlife.

OFFLINE:

CLAIMING AND SUBMISSION OF MODULES


1. This module will be given to you through the Pigeon Boxes at UZ – Ipil Campus. If it is
impossible for you to come to school due to government age restrictions or other unavoidable
hindrances, you can send a representative on your behalf to claim the module.
2. Only authorized persons, such as your parents/guardians and family members can act as
representative to claim your module at the school. The person you authorize to claim your
module should present their own identification card and your student ID for security purposes.
3. To claim your modules, your representative will be asked to sign a form proving that they
already claimed your module. Same process will be applied upon the submission of your module.
4. The modules can be claimed from the Pigeon Boxes only on MONDAYS and TUESDAYS and
MUST be submitted back in the Pigeon Boxes every FRIDAYS for checking. This will be done
during office hours from 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM.

USING THE MODULES


1. Each module is designed for a five-day session. You are expected to read, study, answer the
exercises and do the activities as early as possible.
2. Answer the exercises and do the activities HONESTLY.
3. For your quizzes and examinations, I will be contacting you for the medium that we are going to
use.
4. If there are clarifications or queries, you can contact me through the information I gave above on
the welcome message.

Grading and Assessment:

1. The students will be evaluated based on their performance on the activities given to them. Each
student should at least comply with subject requirements and passed the quizzes and major
examinations given within the duration of the semester.
2. The following grading system will be used for this subject are:

Midterm & Final


Major Exams 40%
Quizzes 30%
Oral Participation/Projects/ 30%
Requirements/Exit Assessment
Total 100%

3. Computation for the General Average:

Mid-Term 50%
Final 50%
Total 100%

Note: Passing Grade = 75%
