Rationale
There are a lot of activities and facilities that can hurt us in this world both man-made and
natural calamities that constantly struck our country. This is what you call a hazard, hazard is
any agent that can cause harm or damage to humans, property or the environment. In hopes to
reduce the probability of students getting into accidents our group has made a hazard map in
specific areas of the school namely the Gr.4 classroom, BS Criminology classroom its
surroundings and the open space. To be more informed, hazard map is a kind of map that
highlights areas that are affected by or are vulnerable to a particular hazard. A hazard map
helps to prevent serious damage and deaths. Furthermore this performance task of ours would
help provide information to people and to help them understand the risks. Hazard maps
indicate the extent of expected risk areas. This helps us take measures to tackle the disasters
and be prepared to handle situations and emergencies. Not many people take this seriously as
they only see hazard maps as useless and would just ignore information about this but this
should not be the case, aside from informing people of hazard maps this will also make them
reduce hazard they will forever be part of our surroundings but what we can do is to be aware
and to broaden our knowledge. When the time comes your knowledge and preparedness
about hazard maps may save you from disasters and calamities, since hazard maps indicate
the extent of expected risk areas, and can be combined with disaster management information
such as evacuation sites, evacuation routes, and so forth. To improve students’ level of
awareness on the potential hazards and risk within and around schools, to increase the
inculcate a culture of safety in the day-to-day experience of children in school are some of
