 The ambient humidity shall not exceed 95%. The internal components may
be damaged if otherwise.
 Take proper damp-proof and anti-corrosion methods.
 The network cable within the scope of delivery is 2m.

If there is external devices (e.g. EM device and etc.) connected to the

Logger3000, user needs to add corresponding communication SPD
according to the on-site situation.

5.3 Installation
When the abovementioned requirements are met, install the Logger3000 in any
place indoors. The Logger3000 can be rack-mounted or wall-mounted.

Digital input and output ports (DIN, DO1 – DO4) are used to control the
node data collection and node communication control.
GPS antenna should be installed outdoors. The corresponding port
(GPS/BDS) is used for time calibration and positioning.
 It calibrates the time of the Logger3000 itself
 It outputs the positioning info through communication.
GPS antenna does not support hot plug. Power down of the Logger3000
is required during installation.

The max. communication distance of COM1 – COM6 (A1B1 – A6B6) is

no more than 1000m.

15
High voltage existing in the AC power supply port. Do not operate
under voltage. Make sure the input side is completely voltage-free and
check to make the ground cable is reliably grounded before cable
connection.
SD card does not support hot plug.

6.3 Connection to PV System Devices

The devices in the PV system that can connect to the Logger3000 are: inverter,
EM device, transformer, power distribution cabinet, meter and etc. as the input
of the Logger3000, the connection method is shown below.

6.3.1 COM Port Connection

Several EM devices and etc. connect to the Logger3000 in RS485 daisy chain.
When the meter connects to the Logger3000, the communication protocol
should meet the DL/T645-2007 requirement.

 RS485 communication cable must be shielded twisted pair cable and

single-point grounded.
 The max. cross-sectional area of the shielded twisted pair cable should
not exceed 1.2mm² and should not be smaller than 0.2mm². the stripped
length of the cable is 8mm (recommended).
 Keep at least 0.5m from the strong electricity; avoid parallel cable layout;
use the steel tube for area with strong interference.
 Add a SPD if the external device connects to the Logger3000. The
Logger3000 may be damaged by lightning if otherwise.

16
The Logger3000 can support at most 6-input RS485 bus and at
most 200 devices connected with each RS485 bus supporting at
most 32 devices connected.
When there are more than 15 devices connected to the RS485 bus,
connect a 120Ω resistor between the RS485 A and B in parallel.
It is advisable to connect the devices with different models to the
Logger3000 separately, for example, connect the transformer and
the inverter to different RS485 communication port; connect different
inverters (e.g. SG60KTL and SG40KTL) to different RS485
communication port.
All addresses of the devices in each RS485 bus should be within the
range of the inverter address and be different from each other.
Communication failure may follow if otherwise.
The Baud rate of all the devices in the RS485 bus should be the
same with that of the Logger3000.

6.4 Connection to PV System Background

The Logger3000 can connect to the PV system background through the internet
port. The communication protocol is standard Modbus-TCP or IEC104. As the
slave device, the Logger3000 can allow several backgrounds visiting through
the standard communication protocol. The connection method of the output of
the Logger3000 is shown below.
If the Logger3000 has no fiber switch module, connect the ETH2 port to the
superior NMS. It can connect to several monitoring background systems
through the router or Ethernet switch or directly connect to a signal background
system through the network cable.
The followings take the connection to the background monitoring system
through Ethernet switch for example.
Step 1 Insert one end of the network cable (within the scope of delivery) to the
Ethernet port.
Step 2 Insert the other end of the network cable to the ETH2 port of the
Logger3000.
Step 3 Keep the IP address of the ETH2 of the Logger3000 and that of the
background system at the same network segment.

17
The IP address of ETH1 and ETH2 cannot be within the same internet
segment. Communication failure may follow if otherwise. The default IP
address of ETH1 is 192.168.0.100; ETH2 is 192.168.1.100.
ETH1 is used to set the WEB of the Logger3000 by default and the IP
address cannot activate the DHCP function.

6.5 Protection Earthing Connection

The ground cable should be grounded reliably, otherwise,

Lethal electrical shock to the operator if a fault occurs.
The device may be damaged by lightning.

Step 1 Prepare the ground cable (recommended: outdoor copper-core cable

with cross-sectional area of 4mm2~6mm2 or 12AWG~10AWG) and OT
terminal (M4).
Step 2 Crimp the ground terminal as shown in the figure below.

Step 3 According to the sequence below to secure the M4 bolt to the grounding
hole by spanner with the torque of 5±1N·m.

6.6 Power Supply Connection

The Logger3000 supports DC24V DC input or AC110-240V (50/60HZ) AC input.
This section will take the AC power supply for example.
Step 1 Prepare the power cable and the terminals.

connected to this serial port of the Logger3000.

Search by Address
Select the serial port name and input the start address and end address to
search the devices connected to this serial port of the Logger3000.

31
Display the device searched: click the “Display devices” and the
devices searched will be displayed.
“Search by port”: only the devices searched according to the port
conditions will be displayed.
“Search by addr.”: only the devices searched according to the
address range will be displayed.

Reallocate Address
Select the serial port name and input the start address to allocate address to
the devices connected to this serial port of the Logger3000.

To allocate the address to the devices by reallocating address, the

devices should support the automatic device allocation function.

32
Modify the device address
After the searched device list, click the “Reallocate addr” button under the
operation column to modify the port address of the device. Click “save” after all
operation.

After modifying the actual device address, change the address of

other devices in the WEB. For devices that support the search
function, reallocate the address by the automatic searching and
automatic allocating function.
It is not recommended for you to modify the device address. Make
sure the address is not the repeated and the same with the actual
device address when modifying the address.

33
After finishing the device search operation (includes the search by
port, search by address, reallocate address, and modify the device
address), click the “Save” button to save the present operation and
the settings will be valid.

Export Results
Click “Export results” to export the list of the devices searched.

8.8.2 Device Operation

device is preset correctly.

Add device
After adding devices to the Logger3000, you should allocate address to them
and conduct corresponding settings in the WEB. Includes: port selection,
device type, device number and starting address.

35
Editing device information
In WEB, you can change the name and the address of the devices connected to
the Logger3000.

“Device name” is named by device model-(port number-port address).

For example, device name SG36KTL-M(6-33), where SG36KTL-M is the
devcie model, 6 is the communication port COM6, 33 is the device
address 33.

After modifying the actual device address, you can modify the
address in WEB.
It is not recommended for you to modify the device address. Make
sure the address is not the repeated and the same with the actual
device address when modifying the address.

Delete device
After deleting the device from the field, you can delete it from the WEB to make
sure the devices managed by the Logger3000 are the same with that on site.

36
After the add, delete, and modify operations, click the “ ” button to
save the present operation and the settings will be valid.
To change the device model, please conduct the delete operation first
and then click the “Save” button to make sure the delete operation is
effective.
Click “Add Device” to add the changed device info and click the “Save”
button to make sure the configuration is valid.
Example: to change the SG50KTL into SG40KTL and keep the address,
communication port and other info unchanged, proceed as follows:
Delete the SG50KTL and click the “Save” button.
Add the SG40KTL and click the “Save” button.
The SG50KTL device is changed to SG40KTL.
