Solar System

Introduction:
This semester, the grade 7 students will learn about celestial objects, space, and the
physical universe as a whole.

Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to :
1. Determine the three main theories on the origin of the solar system
2. Compare and contrast the three theories discussed in the module

Summary of Lesson:
In this lesson, the class will study the three main theories of how the solar
system was formed namely the Core Accretion Model, Disk Instability
Model, and Pebble Accretion Model. This lesson is planned to take one
whole class session of the grade 7 students and consists of one short

The Sun

Introduction: Teacher Louise Loque discussed the Origin of the Solar System last week. For
this week’s discussion, the students will study a lesson about the basic facts
and importance of the sun.

Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to..
1. Familiarize themselves with Nicolaus Copernicus
2. Identify about the basic facts of the sun
3. Recognize the importance of the sun and how it helps us in our
everyday life

Summary of Lesson:

The Father of Modern Astronomy, Nicolaus Copernicus proposed that the sun is
the center of the solar system and the eight planets revolve around it. The basic
facts and importance of the sun are discussed in the CAI Module. In relation to
stars, the Sun is considered as a yellow dwarf star despite its massive size. Thus,

LESSON PLAN

Topic: Planets of the Solar

Teacher: Gabriel Ortiguera Unit: Astronomy System

Introduction: In last week's class discussion, Teacher Keana discussed about the Sun
and its characteristics. For this week, the students will be learning about the planets
of our solar system. Through this, students will be able to appreciate how unique and
special are the different planets in our solar system.
Objectives: At the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Identify the different planets of the solar system.
2. Distinguish the difference between the rocky planets and gas giants of our solar
system.

Summary of Lesson: Our solar system consists of the sun, stars, planets, and other
objects such as asteroids, comets, and meteors. The sun is located at the center of our
solar system. There are eight planets that orbit around the sun. These planets that
orbit around the sun are divided into two groups: the inner planets and the outer
planets. The inner planets are the rocky planets in our solar system. These planets are
Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. They are also called terrestrial planets. On the other
hand, the second group of planets are the outer planets. They are also called jovian
planets. These
Structure planets are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

Assignment and Activities:

Digital concept map - students will pair up and develop a digital concept map (using
lucidchart, mind mup, or any other software) differentiating the rocky planets and the
gas giants of our solar system. The final output will then be presented in class.
Short reflection - students will compose a short reflection describing at least two
planets of the solar system. Students will then post and share their answers online in

LESSON PLAN

Teacher: Jetrish Borja Unit: Astronomy Topic: Moon

Introduction: In last week’s discussion, Teacher Gaby tackled the Planets of the Solar System. For today’s
discussion, I will be tackling the facts of the Moon, what is life on the Moon and the Phases of the Moon.

Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
Discover facts about the Moon
Get to know what is life on the Moon
Learn the phases of Moon

Summary of Lesson:

The Moon is the brightest object in the sky after the Sun. It does not emit its light,
we can see it from Earth because it reflects light from the Sun. In this lesson, the
facts about the Moon, the life on the Moon, and the phases of the Moon will be
discussed. At the end of the class session, the students will make an infographic
