Dear City Solicitor Francis Wright, Jr.:

Under the Massachusetts Public Records Act § 66-10 et seq., I am requesting an

opportunity to inspect or obtain copies of public records in relation to the decision
making of the Marijuana Advisory Committee (MAC). Specifically, I am requesting the
information of the 7 new applicants that MAC has received applications from and
interviewed. I am requesting the full licensing application information for these 7
applicants that have been provided to the Members of the MAC, but not provided to the
Somerville Licensing Commission, Somerville’s democratically-elected City Council or
the citizens of Somerville.
If there are any fees for searching or copying these records, please inform me if the cost
will exceed $25. However, I would also like to request a waiver of all fees in that the
disclosure of the requested information is in the public interest and will contribute
significantly to the public’s understanding of how the MAC adhered to the Scoring
Criteria in recommending ‘Group A’ priority applicants in compliance with the
Somerville Licensing Ordinance for marijuana establishments, Ordinance No.
2018-18, An Ordinance Amending Chapter 9, Section 9-3(b) of the Somerville Code of
Ordinances and adding Section 2-221 to Chapter 2, Division 4 regarding Adult Use
Marijuana Establishments. This information is not being sought for commercial
purposes.

The Massachusetts Public Records Act requires a response to this request within 10
days. If access to the records I am requesting will take longer than this amount of time,
please contact me with information about when I might expect copies or the ability to
inspect the requested records.
If you deny any or all of this request, please cite each specific exemption you feel
justifies the refusal to release the information and notify me of the appeal procedures
available to me under the law.
