AURAT MARCH

Aurat march is being conducted in various cities of Pakistan from the past few years on International
women’s day. This march was initiated by a group of few liberal minded women promoting the western
culture and norms. These women belong to an elite class which represents a very minute fraction of the
Pakistani society since major portion comprises of the upper middle class, middle class and the lower
class. A sagacious person can easily interpret that the issues of the elite class women are entirely
different from that of the lower-class women. The women belonging to the lower class is held back of the
basic rights. On the other hand, elite class women have all those opportunities that a poor class woman is
deprived of. Here comes the debate of rights and the will: Elite women have their rights fulfilled to a
greater extent and she wants her will to make much of. And the lower-class lady strives to get her basic
rights. May be this is the reason for the change of slogan from MY BODY MY RIGHTS” to MY BODY
MY WILL. Women who are doing aurat march are themselves ignorant about the two-nation theory
which was the foundation of this country. Miss Fatimah Jinnah was one of those women who fought for
the rights of Muslim women. These women do not even have the knowledge about the rights and
importance given to them in Islam. Are these women really asking for the rights which actually a Muslim
woman has? Instead their demands are utterly illegal and anti-Islamic. Last year these women carried
some unethical placards with anti-Islamic slogans on them which was a shameful act. And then they tried
to justify their cause of this March which was not at all negotiable. These women are not by any means
raising their voices for those real social issues that are prevailing in the society and causing a great threat
and danger to the female gender which includes child marriages, physical and mental abuse, Rape, body
shaming, bullying, domestic violence and several other similar issues. On the contrary, their placards are
addressing weird expressions to “MEN” like APNA KHANA KHUD GARAM KARO and many other
filthy slogans. There is no issue in doing work for the male members of the family such as husband,
brother and father as they themselves are fulfilling their roles and responsibilities. This year the High
Court has banned such acts and strictly ordered that no such woman should be a part of this march unless
they are participating for genuine issues. Islam has given equal rights to both man and woman but has
also set some responsibilities on both the genders. A female being a mother, daughter, sister and a wife
has different set of responsibility and her main responsibility is to look after her home and raising her
children in the best possible way while the male members of the family are given the responsibility of
being the breadwinners of the family and to look after their family and provide them with the necessities
of life. Our society can only flourish if the respective gender performs their duties in the best possible
way. If Islam orders the females to cover their body, it does not mean that it is restricting the women in a
cage. Rather it is for her own safety and protection from the evil that can cause damage or harm to her
dignity. Women rights are emerged out of four waves the first wave goal was to open opportunities for
women, with a focus on suffrage. the second wave focused on the equal rights amendment to the
constitution guaranteeing social equality regardless of sex. third-wave feminists sought to question,
reclaim, and redefine the ideas, words, and media that have transmitted idea about womanhood, gender,
beauty, sexuality, femininity and masculinity, among other things. The fourth wave of feminism is still a
captivating silhouette. the need of the hour is to boost the will power of the society to make them
powerful. Marches must be meaningful and result oriented these kinds of marches don’t have any result.
The main focus of any march related to the women must be the achievement of basic requirement which
they by themselves think are deprived of. Similarly, is for the men, if they feel discriminated at any point,
they should raise their voice against injustice because MY BODY MY RIGHTS is more about equal
treatment and opportunities for all genders.it should be propagated respectfully. nobody can predict the
outcome of this march but it will surely raise consciousness among the society to think and talk about the
rights. Our society needs metamorphosis of mass psychology to understand and propagate such concepts
and to achieve implicative out comes.
