Captain Barthen,
Can you release to us the same footage released to Dallas-area media outlets of the shoo ng death of
Ata ana Jefferson? I cannot find the clip on your department's website.
Good morning. Our General Orders only prohibit officers from releasing video without permission from the
department. The Chief or the Chief’s designee can authorize the release of video, including footage of officer
involved shoo ngs; however, when and if the video is released is unwri en policy of the Chief. Chief Kraus’ stated
goal is to release footage from officer involved shoo ngs within 72 hours if at all possible. This includes in-car
video and body cameras.
