Wrigley’s Chewing Gum

To be successful is something that everyone wants. Who does not want to live a life
of success? Regardless of the age you have or where you are your ultimate life goal are to
be happy and successful. Success not only about having lot of money or being wealthy. A
true success cannot be measured through this, but instead with the amount of people that
are able to live a better life because of what you created.
William Wrigley Jr. was just a teenager working for his father in Chicago selling soap
that has been manufactured in their factory. By this you will see the hard work that Wrigley
Jr. are making. Thriving all by himself to help their family. Being the soap not that popular
and the selling that didn't leave a good profit margin for the merchants. Wrigley tried
thinking a way where they could earn more than that. This is where he decided to convince
his father to double the first price and give away umbrellas as a premium for the
merchants. With the idea of Wrigley's give away of umbrellas the sale increased. Wrigley
then established his own company after the success of doubling the price of their soap. In
his own and new company Wrigley was selling soap as a wholesaler with baking soda as his
premium and using cook book to promote each deal.
As the time passed baking soda and cookbook became more popular than the soap. As the
time goes by Wrigley then realized that the demand po for premium was stronger than the
demand for the original product. This is when he came up with the idea of making a new
product which is chewing gum. He started with two brands of gum, Vassar and Lotta gums,
and soon introduced Juicy Fruit and Spearmint. The first two phased out while the second
brand became popular so up to this day the second brands became his main brands. He
became successful with just his ideas and perseverance to be so.
On the other hand, being lucky has nothing to do with our success it is our hard
work. I'm not really a believer of luck well I'm not saying that it doesn't exist. We are the
one that are making our own way in our success and luck don't have anything to do with it.
Someone's hard work could make impossible possible. Life is not all about the happiness,
life is a battle where you can encounter a lot of challenges. And a failure or to be failed are
just normal. We often fail to a lot of things to improve them more and Wrigley's story are
one of the situations where you can see that failure are kind of a positive thing.
