“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
Aristotle.
For this evidence, go online and find information about the daily routine of at
least three people you consider role models. You should compare their routines
and find the things they have in common. Then, you should write a three-
paragraph composition about their commonalities and the way your routine
resembles or will resemble theirs. Make sure you use the conjunctions (so,
either, neither, too) you learned in this learning activity.
Paragraph 3: The way your routine reflects or will reflect their routines.
Even though they belong to different generations, I was able to find several
commonalities in their routines:
The three of them think commitment is the most important quality you should
have if you want to achieve your goals. Jason doesn’t start his day without
looking at his to-do list first and Ray doesn’t either.
Setting goals is an essential element for success according to them. Before they
go to bed, Jason and Ray write what they plan to accomplish the next day. Elon
does too, but he prefers to write his goals in the morning. They all have a
notebook to keep track of what they do and make sure they are focused on their
priorities.
Elon doesn’t watch TV. Neither do Jason or Ray. They think it is a passive
activity that makes them waste time. They prefer to read and go online to find
the most recent articles about their interests. Jason and Elon always take notes
about what they read and so does Ray.
SOLVED:
For this activity, I decided to look for information on three athletes that has been
the reason for me to love three sports, one of them, that I practice it and the
other two because of the spectacularity and adrenaline that it generates when I
watch it on TV:
Michael Jordan, Chicago Bulls player, 10 times NBA leading scorer, 5
times NBA regular season MVP, 6 times NBA Finals MVP, 1992 Olympic
medal winner, induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009.
John Elway, quarterback for the Denver Broncos, winner of two NFL
superbowls, two-time NFL superbowl MVP.
Juan Pablo Montoya, motorsports driver, two-time winner of the
Indianapolis 500, winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona, and winner of the
Monaco Grand Prix of Formula 1
Although they belong to different sports, I was able to find several common
points in their achievements and activities; Juan Pablo Montoya is still
competing in resistance tests, so are not Jordan and Elway. John Elway is not
yet in the hall of fame for his sport, neither is Juan Pablo Montoya.
All three compete in their sports within the United States; Jordan has been
recognized several times as the most decorated athlete in that country, John
Elway and Juan Pablo Montoya are too. John and Juan won the biggest events
in the United States twice, so did not Jordan, Jordan won three consecutive
major finals events twice.
In addition to that, in the three sports they require too much physical condition,
both Jordan and Elway required to stay at least two hours a day in gym, On the
other hand, Juan Pablo only requires one hour a day in gym. Juan Pablo didn't
need much time with his team to design his strategy, neither did Jordan and
Elway.
In my case, I think I have not been as organized as possible when it comes to
sports. From now on, I will begin to program my routines and dedication to
sports, I will start with going to the gym, and dedicate more time to the sport of
my choice.
