The Pestalozzi Children’s Foundation (PCF) is a Swiss non-profit organisation which promotes peaceful
cohabitation worldwide by empowering the most marginalised children and adolescents. The Foundation
seeks to provide children and youth with access to holistic quality education and to strengthen their
intercultural competencies. The Pestalozzi Children’s Village in Trogen (Appenzell Outer-Rhodes) is at the
heart of the Foundation and its activities in Switzerland and in twelve countries. Abroad, PCF works with

In Myanmar, PCF works with local partners, mainly community based local NGOs and schools, to enable
children to access primary schools in rural areas. PCF Myanmar is looking for a suitable candidate to fill
the position of

Environmental Education Consultant (100%)


The post is limited to one year.

This position will report to the Country Representative.

We are looking for a motivated, reliable and accurate individual, committed to learn from peers and with
excellent interpersonal skills and team spirit.

Starting date: January 2020.

Main Responsibilities

 Support in the revision and application/use of Environmental Conservation (EC) Teachers’


Guidebook at primary school level
 Facilitate knowledge sharing and conduct training to PCF Operational Partners, communities and
other stakeholders on environmental education contents and processes.
 Monitor and report on the environmental education activities of the Operational Partners and the
teachers
Main Duties

1. Revision and application of EC teacher’s guidebooks

 Provide content support on the revision process of the teachers’ Guidebook on Environmental
Conservation at primary school level
 Prepare and continuously improve training manuals, brochures and documentation of best
practices in environmental education

 Organize workshops for teachers on how to make teaching learning materials for EC Teachers
guide books

2. Knowledge sharing and training on environmental conservation using teacher’s guidebook

 Coordinate and provide trainings to trainers and teachers on how to use EC Guidebook for
environmental education and awareness raising.
 Contribute in Workshops organized with the Environmental Conservation Department and Basic
Education Department
 Identify the capacity building needs of project and partner staff and design ways to build the
capacity continuously

3. Monitoring and reporting

 Conduct regular field monitoring visits and provide technical support to Operational Partners on
environmental education

Required Qualifications

 Master Degree in Education and/or Environmental Sciences with a minimum of five years of work
experience;
 Good knowledge of pedagogical skills in teaching
 Experience in holding ToT trainings and organizing workshops
 Proven track record of coordinating projects involving different stakeholders;
 Experience in community mobilization and working with local communities;
 Proven track record of coordinating projects involving different stakeholders;
 Demonstrated understanding of programme development with practical experiences in Project
Cycle Management and Result Based Management (desirable);
 Results-oriented team player with very good analytical thinking skills and problem-solving attitude;
 Fluency in written and oral communication skills in English and Myanmar
 Computer skills, in particular the MS Office package.
 Willing to spend time in the field (50%)
