INTRODUCTION

Five star hotels, the world over, are meeting-places for the rich and powerful-place

which reverberate with business and politics. The hotel industry has its roots in the

past in almost over country of the world.Hotel provides a service to the customer

whose requirements are clean, quiet and comfortable stays. The emphasis lies on

good food and good services. Hotels range in different sizes depending on the

market requirement.The development in the hotel industry leads to a major break,

through in the tourism of the country. The beautiful and exotic locations are new

accessible for the entire tourists coming to the country. Restaurants and coffee

shops have always been the attraction of 5 star hotels. To cater the growing trend of

preidinner drinks and dances, bars and discotheques have also been incorporated

into the fabric of five star

• To provide the best hospitality, while promoting functional efficiency of spaces and circulation

SITE – LIVE PROJECT

YELAHANKA, BANGALORE.

The plot size is 6 acres.

The site is located in NATIONAL HIGHWAY 44 Yelahanka ,Bangalore.

Yelahanka lies to the north of Bengaluru. It was a Municipal council and Taluk (lies below the District
level in administrative setup) headquarters prior to formation of BBMP (a metro corporation annexing
the original Bangalore area and its suburbs) and now forms a part of greater Bengaluru. A well planned
township was developed during early 1980s to the south of the city by Karnataka Housing Board and is
identified by several names like 'Yelahanka Upanagara', 'Yelahanka Satellite Town', 'Yelahanka New
Town' or simply 'Housing Board'.

Yelahanka is connected with Bangalore through a network of roads and a six lane dual
carriageway highway.
The National highway 44 connects Yelahanka with Kempegowda International Airport.

DESIGN TYPOLOGY – RESIDENTIAL & HOSPITALITY

INTRODUCTION

A retirement community is a residential community or housing complex designed for older adults who
are generally able to care for themselves; however, assistance from home care agencies is allowed in
some communities, and activities and socialization opportunities are often provided. Some of the
characteristics typically are the community must be age-restricted or age-qualified ,residents must be
partially or fully retired and the community offers shared services or amenities.

Retirement communities give residents a strong sense of belonging and purpose, catering to seniors
who are relishing in newfound freedom – freedom from home ownership, freedom from housekeeping,
freedom from cooking, freedom from a to-do list. These communities are committed to helping seniors
age well in a home-like environment where they are considered a vital part of community life.

AIM

The idea is to create a serene environment away from the busy life in the city for the elderly or retired
people aged above 58 – 60.community living will be facilitated having social life, security,health care and
safety as the primary goal .

To provide interaction between people of the same age group since they have a similar mindset in
most issues. According to Population Census 2011 there are nearly 104 million elderly persons (aged 60
years or above) in India.

To promote sustainable and eco friendly living

DESIGN TYPOLOGY – INSTITUTIONAL

INTRODUCTION

NIFT is the pioneering institute of fashion education in the country and has been in the vanguard of
providing professional human resource to the textile and apparel industry. It was made a statutory
institute in 2006 by an Act of the Indian Parliament with the President of India as ‘Visitor’ and has full
fledged campuses all across the country. Over the years NIFT has also been working as a knowledge
service provider to the Union and State governments in the area of design development and positioning
of handlooms and handicrafts.

The NIFT Srinagar campus is located in the summer capital of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
NIFT Srinagar campus working from 2016 at temporary campus building in SIDCO electronic complex,
Rangreth Srinagar.

AIM

To create and study spaces for institution design .

To create a campus that acts as an identity to the location .

To make a self-sufficient environment within the campus .

To propose a design with the constrain of standards and yet create interesting volumes and spaces.

The plot size is around 10 acres.

NIFT Srinagar's permanent campus is under construction in Budgam, this campus will be operational in
2020.

Budgam district is the closest district to capital Srinagar (11 km). Budgam district came into existence in
1979, prior to which it was part of Srinagar district.
