The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974
Employers main duties:-
• To ensure the health, safety and
welfare at work of all employees and others
• Provide a safe place of work and means of
entry and exit.

• Provide information,
instruction, training
and supervision as is
necessary
• Provide adequate facilities
and arrangements for welfare
• Provide and maintain safe plant and systems of work
• Ensure safe use, handling, storage and transport of
substances.

Employees shall:
• Take care for their own health
and safety and that of others
• Co-operate with the employer
• Not recklessly interfere with
or misuse anything provided for
their health, safety or welfare.

their training and instruction
