Bunkering Summary
• There are 4 nos. suction hose pipes to unload the fuel from lorry trucks. 2 nos. for unit-1 and another
2 nos. for unit-2.
• Each unit have 2 nos. unload pump of which 1 nos. for HFO and another for DO.
• Engineer in charge at bunkering decides whether he unload the fuel at storage tank of unit-1 or unit-
2 according to the available percentage of fuel at tank.
• All the tank measurements (Storage tank, Buffer A Tank, Buffer B Tank, Day Tank/ Service Tank) are
taken at 12:00 O’clock. The summation of all the measurements represent the current fuel stock
quantity in volume (MT/KL). The 24 hours difference of measurements represent the used quantity at
bunkering.
• While taking measurements, they only take the head of all the tanks and get the value of fuel volume
from a chart after considering the temperature and density.
• They get the LHV value from the fuel test report provided by the vendor. This value remains unchanged
until the next lot arrive at bunkering. Usually it takes 1 to 1.5 months or more to finish unloading after
the cargo arrived at port.
• New HFO is poured into the old HFO and the LHV value remains unchanged until the amount of old
HFO decreases to its approximate half value. Although the old and new HFO is mixed with by this time.
• All the HFO tank has steam line spread at the bottom of the tank to keep the HFO heated except
Storage Tank. Storage tank has no bottom steam line. But its outlet line has steam in contact to keep
the outgoing HFO heated.
• According to the fuel test report, the pour point of HFO is 30℃ and the flash point is 60℃.
