How to Use Microsoft Excel to Present Your Data

Pie Chart
1. To create a pie chart of a set of data (for example, the data sets for the age of
respondents), select the range A2:F3.

2. On the insert tab, in the Charts group, click the Pie symbol.

3. You can select either a 2-D or a 3-D pie chart to represent your data.

4. Let’s say a 2-D Pie was clicked on, the result would be this pie chart being
generated

5. Click on the pie to select the whole pie.

6. Click on Add Chart Element>Data Labels>Data Callout, to generate the graph


below.

7. Click on “Chart Title” to change the title of the pie chart to e.g. Age of
Respondents.

Bar Graph
To create a bar graph, execute the following steps.
1. Select the range A2:D3.

2. On the insert tab, in the Charts group, click on “Insert Column or Bar Chart”.

3. Click on Clustered Column.

4. The result is this bar graph will be generated.

Line Graph – shows only one data set. They are used to display data that
change over time.
To create a line graph, execute the following steps.
1. Select the range A1:D7.

2. On the insert tab, in the Charts group, click the line symbol. Then click “Line
with Marker”.

3. The line graph generated will be as shown in the diagram below.
