PROPOSED RETICULATION UPGRADING WORKS – IMPROVEMENT

WORKS TO SG LOLO / PANGSOON WTP SUPPLY AREAS.

1. INTRODUCTION

The Employer, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn. Bhd has identified such
areas and plan to improve the distribution system progressively to provide
reliable and continuous supply in its supply areas. Particular areas
identified for this project is in Sg Lolo and Sg Pangsoon WTP supply
areas.

2. SCOPE OF WORKS

This project is required to improve distribution system to maximize the


output from Sg Lolo and Sg Pangsoon WTPs and to provide reliable and
continuous supply to existing & future developments in its supply areas.
The scope of works comprised of the following works :

(a) Laying a new 300mm Ductile Iron (DI) pipe of about 8.5km from
Sg Lolo towards Batu 18 junction.
(b) Laying 150mm by-pass pipe between suction tank inlet and pump
house outlet.
(c) To demolish existing Sg Lui Elevated Water Tank (EWT) and to
construct new R.C Elevated Water Tank.
(d) Laying a new 225mm & 315mm OD HDPE pipe from the EWT
approximately 3.2km towards Paya Lebar.

The works under this Contract shall comprise the construction and
completion of the following works :-

a) To collect from Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd and lay 300mm
diameter Ductile Iron pipes and 315mm & 225mm High Density
Polyethylene (HDPE) pipe.

The scope of work shall include collection of the pipes from


Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn. Bhd store, deliver to site, handling,
site clearing, site preparation, excavation, lay, cutting, jointing,
backfill with imported sand, temporary trench reinstatement,
tapping, communication pipe-works, meter stand and restoration of
metalled road.

b) Supply and lay 200mm and 300mm diameter mild steel pipes for
interconnection and over-ground pipe-works.

c) Supply and lay mild steel, ductile iron, and HDPE pipe specials
including tees, bends, mechanical couplings, flange adaptors, etc.

d) Supply and install all valves and hydrants, construction of valve


chambers, washout pipe-works, typical and specific over-ground
pipe crossings, piling, concrete support, anchor and thrust block
etc. in connection with the pipelines.

e) Supply and install new tapping saddles on HDPE pipes.

f) To replace the existing communication pipe from ‘saddle’ to ‘meter


stand’ with new HDPE pipe as specified.

g) To replace the existing meter stand with a new stainless steel type
meter stand and to be located outside of house area or at the
boundary of the land.

h) Restoration and reinstatement of road pavement after completion of


pipe laying to the satisfaction of relevant Authorities.

i) Hot tapping where required by the employer or the C.A.

j) To obtain work permit from the relevant road authorities before start
of works.

k) Liaison with Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd for testing,


sterilizing, commissioning, connection to existing pipe network and
handover. Works to include decommissioning of existing pipe where
required.

l) Any additional works not detailed here but necessary for the
completion of the Works as may be ordered by the Employer or the
C.A. in accordance with the terms of the Contract.

All works shall be carried out in good engineering practice, adhering to the
Employers guidelines on health, safety and environment, and in
accordance with the conditions of contract, construction drawings and
specification.

3. DRAWINGS

Drawings for the Works is listed in the List of Drawings.

These drawings are intended to assist the Tenderer in preparing his tender
but may be subsequently altered in detail to suit the site layout. The
alignment, levels and dimensions of the existing works shown on the
drawings are approximate only.

The C.A.’s Consulting Engineer shall carry out design and provide
construction drawings for the plan and longitudinal section of the pipeline.
The Contractor shall however will still need to carry out piloting to
determine the most suitable pipeline route and submit the proposal to the
C.A. for approval. Details and requirements given in the construction
drawings which may differ from the tender drawings shall not be
considered as additional work nor variation and shall not be a basis for
application of additional time and cost.

Further drawings may be issued to the Contractor by the C.A. as work


progresses. The Contractor will prepare his own bar schedules to amplify
details shown on drawings of reinforced concrete work issued by the C.A.
and shall satisfy himself as to the correctness of these schedules with the
C.A., before arranging for the supply, cutting and bending of the steel
reinforcement. No claims made by the Contractor will be considered in the
event that there are delays due to disagreement with the C.A..

Any additional drawings which the Contractor requires to interpret the


Drawings for the use of his employees shall be prepared by the Contractor
and four (4) copies of each shall be supplied to the C.A. if required by him.

4. DRAWINGS TO BE SUPPLIED BY THE CONTRACTOR

All drawings provided by the Contractor or any sub-contractor shall be


prepared using a computer aided drafting (CAD) system layered to a
standardized system. The software to be used for the preparation of the
drawings shall be AutoCAD. The lettering used shall be 3 mm and 2.5 mm
minimum for upper case and lower case letters respectively. Line
thickness shall not be less than 0.2 mm. The drawings produced shall be
in the form of dark lines on a white background, and unless otherwise
specifically approved by the C.A. shall be A1 size. Prints shall be of
durable paper of good quality and 80 gm/m2 minimum weight;
reproducibles shall be on 75 micron durable plastic film.

Each drawings shall give the following particulars in a title block at the right
side of the drawing in accordance with Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd
standard title block and subject to the approval of the C.A.:

A blank space 90 mm by 50 mm shall be provided for the C.A.’s approval


stamp and provision shall be made for details of revisions to be clearly
recorded.

All notes and legends on drawings shall be in English, and all dimensions
shown in metric units of measurement.

Drawings shall include cross-references where appropriate and key


information such as vital levels and dimensions. All plans shall show the
‘north’ direction.

The notice of the C.A.’s approval of any drawings will only signify his
general approval of the design and shall not make him liable for any error
of the Contractor in detail or lack of strength or efficiency of any part.
