Lesson 5- Describing technological devices May 23-29

For this week`s lesson, we will describe different technological devices such as mobile
phones, laptops, handheld devices and so on.

TASK 1) First of all, in this video you will see people talking about mobile phones, PDAs and
computers using compound adjectives:

TASK 2) Make a list of 10 adjectives to describe devices (small, portable, light, etc)

TASK 3) Look at the order of the adjectives:

She has a small square black laptop computer
SIZE SHAPE COLOUR ORIGIN MATERIAL FUNCTION

Determiner -> size -> shape -> color -> origin -> material -> a word describing purpose/function

Examples:
"She bought a new red Italian tablet."

TASK 4: Describe the devices on the picture using adjectives in the correct order
 The computer is bigger that video camera.
 The video camera is heavy, gray color
 The digital camera is light, silver color


TASK 5: COMPARATIVES
Comparative s: We can compare one type of computer/device with another.

IPhone are more expensive than mobile phones

Compare the devices in the picture using comparatives:

 TASK 6) SUPERLATIVES
We can compare mainframes to all other types of computers.

Mainframes are the biggest computers.

Mainframes are the most expensive computers.

TASK 7) PRESENTATION

In groups of 3-4 people, prepare a 5-10 minutes presentation about a

TECHNOLOGICAL DEVICE (mobile phone, computer, etc).
● Use adjectives (order, comparative and superlatives
● Use Visual aids (posters, devices, power point, prezi, etc)
