Course Title: Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship Pre-requisite: Entrep 1

A. Course Description: The course is intended to provide basic understanding of the entrepreneurial or
new venture process. Students will discuss the critical role that opportunity and creation play in
that process. Students also examine how entrepreneurs and investors create, find, and differentiate
money-making and robust opportunities from “good ideas”.

B. Objectives: At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
a) describe the key concepts in the making of an entrepreneur and discuss the factors to develop
entrepreneurial activity;
b) discuss the development of entrepreneurship, the qualities, characteristics and skills necessary in
developing an entrepreneur;
c) discuss the role of employment and education as contributory factor in economic development;
d) discuss how the government help the small and medium industries and identify the contributions of the
entrepreneur in economic development;
e) know the factors to consider in venturing new business and identifying business opportunities in the
countryside;
f) explain the important characteristics of the entrepreneur and the knowledge to prepare a project
feasibility study;
g) identify the various forms of business organizations, understanding the basic steps in establishing
business and realizing the importance of being an entrepreneur;
h) understand the product planning that effects company’s success;
i) discuss what is price and its importance, the types of consumer in relation to pricing and its strategies;
j) describe the nature of distribution planning and its importance, the strategy to distribute the products;
k) discuss the nature of promotional and choosing the best promotional tool in order to gain profit; and
l) define the meaning of ethics and social responsibility, the role of entrepreneur in dealing with the
stakeholders and how we can help rebuild ethical standards in our society.

 CS refers to Class Standing which is 60% composed of Quizzes (20%)+ Recitation (20%) + Term
Paper (20%)
 Recitation includes participation in discussion prompts for online classes and discussion activities
for offline classes.
 Major Exams = 40%

I. Academic Honesty:

All students are expected to be academically honest. Cheating, lying, and other forms of unethical
behavior will not be tolerated. Any student found guilty of cheating in examinations or plagiarism in
submitted course requirements will receive an F or failure in the course requirement or in the course.
Cheating refers to securing help in a test; copying test, assignments, reports or term papers; collaborating
with other students during an examination or in preparing academic work that has not been designated as
collaborative activity; signing another student’s name on an attendance sheet; or otherwise practicing
scholastic dishonesty.

POLICY ON ATTENDANCE

1. In view of the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic on the educational landscape, the
university is modifying its policy on attendance for this semester.
2. Every student is required to attend his classes for every week of the course.
3. For online-based mode of learning, the student attendance shall be monitored based on learner’s
participation in an interactive online study group or discussion prompt, student’s submission of outputs
(assignments, activities, exams and quizzes), or a documentation showing that the student-initiated
contact with a faculty member to ask a question about an academic subject related to the course.
4. For correspondence-based mode of learning, the student attendance shall be monitored based on
learner’s accomplishment of outputs (assignments, activities, exams and quizzes), or a documentation
showing that the student-initiated contact with a faculty member to ask a question about an academic
subject related to the course.

J. Expectations from Students:


The student’s responsibility is to attend to each online class prepared. He/she is expected to
work on the Activity Sheets honestly and conscientiously and to take all examinations and quizzes on
the date scheduled.
