A US7234615 B2 - Low friction hanger system and hangers for use therewith
A low friction hanger system for reducing the lateral force required to move a hanger having a
hook and a wider, lower balance beam portion on a rod. The system includes a friction
reducing element located between a hanger hook of the hanger and a supporting rod. The
friction reducing element can include a roller or low friction material either integral with the
hanger hook or retrofitted thereto. The friction reducing element can also include low friction
material on the rod which is either integral therewith or retrofitted thereto. Optionally, lateral
force displacement magnets or laterally extending arms will aid in the lateral displacement the
hanger relative to other hangers.

US20040206788 A1 - Clamp-type garment hanger

A A garment hanger includes a hook member and at least one clamp member coupled to a top
crossbar member. At least one gripping finger is provided having a portion that is resiliently
biased in a close spatial arrangement with a surface (preferably the top surface) of a bottom
crossbar member. An end of the gripping finger is angled upward from the surface of the
bottom crossbar member to facilitate insertion of the garment therebetween. The clamp
member is used to engage and support a garment, such as a pair of pants. The gripping
finger(s) and the bottom crossbar member are used to grasp and hold the garment
therebetween. Together, these elements can be used to reduce the vertical dimension of the
garment held by the garment hanger.

US5598957 A - Adjustable hanger

An adjustable hanger has a hanger body, opposed carrying arms that are slidably extendable
A from the hanger body to increase or decrease the size of the hanger, and a connecting rod that
is rotatable to cause the carrying arms to be extended or retracted from the hanger body. The
connecting rod can be a hollow tube wherein the ends of the opposed carrying arms are
inserted into the connecting rod and wherein oppositely wound spiral grooves on the inside of
the connecting rod mate with projections on the ends of the carrying arms so that rotation of
the connecting rod causes the carrying arms to be extended or retracted from the connecting
rod. Alternately, oppositely wound spiral grooves formed on the outside of the carrying arms
may mate with projections on the inside of the connecting rod so that rotation of the
connecting rod causes the carrying arms to be extended or retracted from the connecting rod.
