Putting On Tilak
Tilaka refers to the markings which Vaisnava devotees apply to
their bodies, to remind themselves and others that we are all
eternal servants of Lord Krsna. Tilaka is applied to twelve parts of
the body, and the twelve names of the Lord are recited with each
application.."
As you apply the tilak to your body, chant the following mantras:

All glories, all glories to the beautiful arati ceremony of Lord Caitanya.
This Gaura-arati is taking place in a grove on the banks of the Jahnavi
and is attracting the minds of all living entities in the universe.

On Lord Caitanya's right side is Lord Nityananda, and on His left side
is Shri Gadadhara. Nearby stand Sri Advaita, and Shrivasa Thakura is Srila Prabhupada Pranati
holding an umbrella over Lord Caitanya's head.

Lord Caitanya has sat down on a jeweled throne, and the demigods, srimate bhaktivedanta-svamin iti namine
headed by Lord Brahma, perform the arati ceremony.

Narahari Sarakara and other associates of Lord Caitanya fan Him with nirvisesa-sunyavadi-pascatya-desa-tarine
chamaras, and devotees headed by Sanjaya Pandita, Mukunda Datta,
and Vasu Ghosha sing sweet kirtana.
I offer my respectful obeisances unto His Divine Grace A.C.
Conchshells, bells, and karatalas resound, and the mridangas play
Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, who is very dear to Lord
very sweetly. This kirtana is supremely sweet and relishable to hear.
Krishna on this earth, having taken shelter at His lotus feet.
The brilliance of Lord Caitanya's face conquers millions upon millions
of moons, and the garland of forest flowers around His neck shines. Our respectful obeisances unto you, O spiritual master,
servant of Sarasvati Gosvami. You are kindly preaching the
Lord Shiva, Sukadeva Gosvami, and Narada Muni are all there, and message of Lord Caitanyadeva and delivering the Western
their voices are choked with the ecstasy of transcendental love. Thus countries, which are filled with impersonalism and voidism.
Thakura Bhaktivinoda envisions the glory of Lord Sri Caitanya.

for young boys, and that young boys have natural
affection for young girls. I am praying at Your lotus feet
that my mind may become attracted unto You in the
same spontaneous way."
"My dear Lord, there is no sinful living entity who is
more of a sinner than myself. Nor is there a greater
offender than myself. I am so greatly sinful and offensive
that when I come to confess my sinful activities before
You, I am ashamed."

Sharira abidya-jal, jodendriya tahe kal,
jiva phele vishaya-sagore
ta'ra madhye jihwa ati, lobhamoy sudurmati,
ta'ke jeta kathina samsare

sei annamrita pao, radha-krishna-guna gao,

Dear Lord Krishna, this material body is a lump of
ignorance, and the senses are networks of paths leading
to death. Somehow or other i have fallen into this ocean
of material sense enjoyment and of all the senses tongue
is the most voracious and difficult to control. It is very
difficult to conquer the tongue in this world.
But You Lord Krishna, are so kind, you have sent this
nice prasadam just to control the tomgue.
So now we take and honor this prasadam to our full
satisfaction and glorify Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha and
Krishna and with love call upon the help of Lord Caitanya
and Lord Nityananda.
Dear Srila Prabhupada, you are so merciful to introduce
prasadam in the Western world, karma-free food for the
soul. Thank you Srila Prabhupada, our ever well-wisher.
To accept Initiation From the Spiritual Master and The Hare Krishna Maha-Mantra
Receive Instructions from Him
Sage Prabuddha continued to speak to the King as follows:”My
dear King, a disciple has to accept the spiritual master, but also
as the representative of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna
the supersoul. In other words, the disciple should accept the
spiritual master as God because he is the external manifestation

of Krishna.” This is confirmed in every scripture, and a disciple
should accept the spiritual master as such. One should learn
Srimad-Bhagavatam seriously and with all respect and veneration

for the spiritual master. Hearing and speaking Srimad-
Bhagavatam is the religious process which elevates one to the
Rama Rama Hare Hare
platform of serving and loving the Supreme Personality of
Godhead. The attitude of the disciple should always be to satisfy
the bona fide spiritual master. Then it will be very easy for him to
understand spiritual knowledge. This is confirmed in the Vedas,
and it will be further explained by Rupa Goswami that, for a
person who has unflinching faith in God and the spiritual master,
everything becomes revealed very easily.
To serve the spiritual master with faith and confidence
Regarding accepting initiation from a spiritual master, in the
eleventh Canto of the Srimad-Bhagavatam, 17th chapter, 22nd
verse it is stated by Lord Krishna: “My dear Uddhava, the spiritual
master must be accepted not only as my representative but as my
very self. He must never be considered on the same level with an
ordinary human being. One should never be envious of the
spiritual master as one might be envious of an ordinary man. The
spiritual master should always be seen as the representative of
the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and by serving the spiritual
master one is able to serve all the demigods.”

Eighth Octet: If Only You would Come Again
1)Lord Caitanya's method of devotional service is not
performed in solitude. You preached this again and again to
your own devotees.
2)Just as the Lord delivered Jagai and Madhai out of His own
causeless mercy, you explained to everyone that this same
method of preaching work has to go on.
3) The world has now filled up with many Jagais and Madhais
to deliver. Everyone is anxiously looking down the road waiting
for Caitanya-Nitai to come to their rescue.
4) If, at such a time as this, you were to personally return to
this world and once more preach about all these things the way
you always used to do
5) If there were enthusiastic preaching activities again taking
place in every direction, then all the people as before would be
stirred up in blissful excitement.
6) Your profound shouting would cause the demons and
atheists to flee, and your narrations of Lord Caitanya's
message would fill the hearts of the innocent souls.
7) Again the whole world would be excitedly bustling with
good tidings; but as it is, in your absence now there is nothing
of value anywhere.
8) O Srila Prabhupada! You personally suffer to see the
suffering of the fallen conditioned souls. On this day of your
separation I am utterly despondent.
O Master! My heart is broken in your absence.
This disciple named Abhay has hereby revealed only a small
token of his wretched agony of separation.
 8) O Srila Prabhupada! You personally suffer to see the
suffering of the fallen conditioned souls. On this day of your Sri Nrsinga Pranama
separation I am utterly despondent.

Seventh Octet: Distributing the Pure Devotional Process hiranyakashipor vakshah-
shila-tanka-nakhalaye
1) The most magnanimous incarnation of the Lord is Sri
Krsna Caitanya.Distributing the process of attaining love of ito nrisinghah parato nrisingho
God by chanting the holy names of Krishna, He thus blessed yato yato yami tato nrisinghah
the entire universe. bahir nrisingho hridaye nrisingho
2)O Master, you are the personification of the nrisingham adim saranam prapadye
transcendental message of Lord Caitanya. You are the
distributor of that message to every town and village.
3)You sent your devotees to preach in the faraway lands of Prayer to Lord Nrsinga
the Western countries, and you personally traveled all over
India, even to the South. tave kara-kamala-vare nakham
4) You preached the pure philosophy of Lord Gauranga in adbhuta-sringam
such a way that intelligent persons could understand. And dalita-hiranyakashipu-tanu-bhrigam
you showed such great concern, O Master, in convincing all keshava-dhrita-narahari-rupa jaya jagadisa hare
you adversaries!
5) Lord Gauranga used many tricks just to engage the
conditioned souls in devotional service, and you have also
understood how to use all those tricks perfectly well.
6) You understood time, place and circumstance, and
utilized everything as a strategy for preaching. Although
observing your activities with their very eyes. those who are
blind like owls and other creatures of the night could not
see your true purpose.
7)What will the Auls and the Sahajiyas and the other
nonsense groups ever understand? And what will the sheep-
like common people or dry logicians ever understand?
8) O Srila Prabhupada! You personally suffer to see the
suffering of the fallen conditioned souls. On this day of your
separation I am utterly despondent.
 6) Then once again we can blissfully remember the holy name
Tulasi-arati Kirtana
of Krishna, and once again we will have firm faith in your
vrindayai tulasi-devyai "Vaikuntha messages."
priyayai kesavasya cha 7) Once again you will make us dance in the pure holy name of
Krishna. thus you will personally dispel all this confusion
vishnu-bhakti-prade devi caused by Maya.
satyavatyai namo namaha
8) O Srila Prabhupada! You personally suffer to see the
suffering of the fallen conditioned souls. On this day of your
separation I am utterly despondent.
Shri Tulasi-kirtana

Sixth Octet: The Preaching Mission is Scattered
1) "Continue dancing, singing and performing sankirtana in the
association of devotees." ( C.C. Adi 7.92) These words spoken
by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu are especially nectarine.
2) If we have complete faith in these instructions given by you,
our spiritual master, then in the performance of sankirtana
actual love for Krishna will be aroused in us.
3) Without love of God, our tiny intelligence only becomes
entangled in the network of Maya's delusions Because no one
actually attained prema, now there has been great upheaval in
your mission.
4) The whole world has become filled with impersonalists, and
the Vaisnavas have given up the work of preaching that was
entrusted unto them and have simply gone off to perform
solitary worship.
5)The Vaisnava's were famous as "patita pavana" ( deliverers of
the fallen) but now this title has fallen into disgrace. Countless
numbers of your disciples have been forced to leave your
movement.
6) At such an inauspicious time, O Master, what can be done
to repair the damage that is done? The beautiful garden that
you had so carefully planted is now parched and withered
away.
7) O Master, please awaken some good intelligence in this
insignificant disciple of yours so that my firm faith in your
transcendental message may increase more and more.
4) The essential purport of your message obviously did not

enter their ears. O where will I get the strength to perform
this hari-nama-sankirtana? govinda jaya jaya gopala jaya jaya
5) To chant the holy name of the Lord is the explicit radha-ramana hari govinda jaya jaya
command of my worshipful spiritual master. I could never
honestly neglect that order
6) Your greatest acclaim is that you propagated the topmost
religious culture Anyone who accepts the holy name from
you becomes spiritually qualified.
7) If all those who attained this qualification were to go out
and make disciples then the miserable conditioned souls
would all be delivered from this world of birth and death.
8) O Srila Prabhupada! You personally suffer to see the
suffering of the fallen conditioned souls. On this day of your
separation I am utterly despondent.

Fifth Octet: The Disciple's Empowerment is Lost

1) The greatest mantra of all, consisting of thirty-two
letters, is: Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare People who
are possessed by gross foolishness refuse to chant it.
2) Your so-called disciple, the jackal named Ananta
Vasudeva, disobeyed your final instructions to keep the
mission united, and thereby created a scandalous fiasco.
The result of this philosophical deviation is evident to this
day as imitative sahajiyas are being worshiped as gurus in
Shri Vaishnava Pranam
your temples. vancha-kalpatarubhyash cha
3) Is there a single temple to be found where your kripa-sindubhya eva cha
instructions are still being followed? As it is said: "punar
musiko bhava"- Everyone has "again become a mouse." patitanam pavanabhyo
vaishnavebhyo namo namaha
4) The lion's food has been stolen away by the deceptive
tricks of the jackal Now caught in Maya's mighty clutches [translation] I offer my respectful obeisances unto all the

The Ten Offenses to the Holy Name
bahu janma kare yadi sravana, kirtana
tabu ta' na paya krsna-pade prema-dhana
If one is infested with the ten offenses in the chanting of the
Hare Krsna maha-mantra, despite his endeavor to chant the
holy name for many births, he will not get the love of Godhead
which is the ultimate goal of this chanting.
There are ten offenses against the chanting of the Holy Name:
(1) To blaspheme the devotees who have dedicated their lives
for propagating the holy name of the Lord.
(2) To consider the names of demigods like Lord Siva or Lord
Brahma to be equal to, or independent of, the name of Lord
Krishna.
(3) To disobey the orders of the spiritual master.
(4) To blaspheme the Vedic literature or literature in
pursuance of the Vedic version.
(5) To consider the glories of chanting Hare Krishna to be
imagination.
(6) To give some interpretations of the holy name of the Lord.
(7) To commit sinful activities on the strength of chanting the
holy name of the Lord.
(8) To consider the chanting of Hare Krishna one of the
auspicious ritualistic activities offered in the Vedas as fruitive
activities (karma-kanda).
(9) To instruct the faithless in the glories of the holy name.
(10)To not have complete faith in the chanting of the Holy
Names and to maintain material attachments, even after
understanding so many instructions on this matter.
It is also an offense to be inattentive while chanting the Holy
Name. Every devotee who claims to be a Vaisnava must guard
against these offenses in order to achieve the desired success,
Krishna Prema.
4) But those who have no such qualification perform nirjana
bhajana or so-called confidential worship in a solitary place.
Thus acting whimsically, all of them actually remain absorbed
in personal sense gratification.
5) [As stated in the Srimad Bhagavatam 10,33,30]: "An ordinary
soul should never imitate the activities of the Supreme Lord,
even in his mind." According to these instructions in devotional
service, the unqualified imitators are ruined.
6) You preached "utility is the principle"- that is, one should act
without attachment
and use anything that is deemed appropriate in the devotional
service of the Lord.
7) In such detached devotional service to Lord Krsna there
would be a temple established in every house But now just the
opposite situation is apparent everywhere.
8) O Srila Prabhupada! You personally suffer to see the
suffering of the fallen conditioned souls. On this day of your
separation I am utterly despondent.
Fourth Octet: The Essential Purport Neglected
1) Everything regarding material prosperity as well as mystic
perfection is fully present in your transcendental message:
"Because the residents of Vraja have life, therefore they engage
in preaching work." (Dusta Mana verse)
2) The "resolute intelligence" ("vyavasayatmika buddhi")
explained by Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti [in his commentary to
Bhagavad Gita 2.41] is now spoiled since your disciples have
become ensnared in the bewildering noose of Maya.
3) Those disciples who were irresolute in performing devotional
service according to your instructions have now divided your
mission in many factions. It appears that the tigress of ambition
for material names and fame has appeared and personally
provoked this upheaval.
Second Octet: The Merciful Flood Has Been Stopped
1) Just as Advaita Prabhu had prayed fervently and thus
induced Sri Gauranga to descend, so did your father,
Bhaktivinoda Thakura, pray for you to incarnate.
2) Due to Bhaktivinoda's eagerness, O Master, you came and
proclaimed to everyone that India is the most holy land of the
Lord's divine pastimes.
3) "One who has taken birth in this land of Bharata-bhumi
(India) should first make his own life successful and then work
for the benefit of all other people" (C.C Adi 9.41)

4) This is the most significant message of Lord Caitanya that

you boldly preached everywhere. But now in your absence, O
Master, everything has fallen into darkness.
5) The overflowing ocean of your compassion has once again
been dammed up. This makes me feel as if a spear of great
misery has indeed pierced my heart.
6) Without Caitanya Mahaprabhu's message being spread
there is only confusion and upheaval in the movement. Seeing
this situation, all the Vaisnavas are also feeling overwhelmed
with the pangs of your separation.
7) The spirit souls have once again been captured by Maya
“I shall remain your personal guidance, physically present
and plunged into absolute darkness. Desperately searching
for relief, they are simply perishing in a fathomless ocean of or not physically, as I am getting personal guidance from
anxiety. my guru maharaja”
8) O Srila Prabhupada! You personally suffer to see the Srila Prabhupada July 14, 1977, Vrindavana
suffering of the fallen conditioned souls. On this day of your
separation I am utterly despondent.

Third Octet: Practical Chanting and Preaching
1) You instructed everyone you met to chant the holy name of
Lord Krishna. You showed the example of continually reciting
the maha-mantra into their ears.
2) You empowered everyone with the qualification to further
distribute that holy name. But now, by the influence of Maya,
there is only darkness on all sides.
3) The souls who are truly attached to worshiping the Lord
always sing and dance in joyful sankirtana. Following in the
footsteps of their spiritual master, they deliver the whole
world.

lokanath lokera jivana gosvamis) But then you personally came, O Master to open
ha ha prabhu kora doya, deho more pada chaya wide the floodgates once again.

5) Again you engulfed everyone in the deluge of pure divine
love- even such a low, wretched, fallen and sinful soul as
myself.
6) On the strength of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu's command
you sent all of your servants as spiritual masters, going from
door to door, just to deliver the fallen souls.
7) The devotees were enthusiastically preaching everywhere-
from the oceans to the Himalaya mountains, But now that you
have gone from our midst everything today has become very
dark.
8) O Srila Prabhupada! You personally suffer to see the
suffering of the fallen conditioned souls. On this day of your
separation I am utterly despondent
I offer my obeisances unto him, whose glances are
full of mercy and who is the bestower of
transcendental bliss. O renowned Lord, protect me
and kindly shower your compassion again and again.

Let me offer my obeisances unto my Guru Maharaja,

who is a disciple of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta, who is
always calm and joyful, and who bears the name
Bhaktivedanta.

The land of Bengal is worshipable by the whole world

because Sri Caitanya performed His pastimes there. I
offer my obeisances unto Srila Prabhupada, who is
full of bliss. He is always in the ecstasy of Lord
Gauranga and is therefore immersed in the lotus feet
of Radha-Mukunda.

Ananta-rama Sastri dasa

(1) The lotus feet of the spiritual master are the abode of
pure devotional service. I bow down to those lotus feet with
great care and attention. My dear brother (my dear mind)! It
is through the grace of the spiritual master that we cross
over this material existence and obtain Krishna.

(2) Make the teachings from the lotus mouth of the spiritual
master one with your heart, and do not desire anything
else. Attachment to the lotus feet of the spiritual master is
the best means of spiritual advancement. By his mercy all
desires for spiritual perfection are fulfilled.

(3) He who has given me the gift of transcendental vision is

my lord, birth after birth. By his mercy divine knowledge is
revealed within the heart, bestowing prema-bhakti and
destroying ignorance. The Vedic scriptures sing of his
character.

(4) O spiritual master, ocean of mercy, and friend of the

fallen souls, you are the teacher of everyone and the life of
all people. O master! Be merciful unto me, and give me the
shade of your lotus feet. May your glories now be
proclaimed throughout the three worlds.

playing on His flute, with blooming eyes like lotus petals
with head bedecked with a peacock’s feather, with the figure

form is full of bliss, truth, substantiality and is thus full of
the most dazzling splender. Each of the limbs of that

topmost knowledge of the Supreme Personality, Lord
Krsna, who is the fountainhead of religion. O master of the

Adore, Adore Ye All

Adore adore ye all, The happy day. Blessed than

Heaven, Sweeter than May. When He appeared at Puri,

Abhay Caranaravinda Dasa
Lord Caitanya’s mission
Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu instructed His disciples to write books
on the science of Krishna, a task which those who follow Him have
continued to carry out down to the present day. The elaborations
and expositions on the philosophy taught by Lord Caitanya are in
fact most voluminous, exacting and consistent due to the
unbreakable system of disciplic succession - of any religious culture
in the world.
Yet Lord Caitanya, in His youth widely renowned as a scholar,
Himself left us only eight verses, called Siksastaka, in which His
mission and precepts are revealed. Here, rendered by His Divine
Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, are these eight
supremely valuable prayers.
Sri Sri Siksastaka
(1) ceto-darpana-marjanam bhava-maha-davagni-nirvapanam
sreyah-kairava-candrika-vitaranam vidya-vadhu-jivanam
anandambudhi-vardhanam prati-padam purnamrtasvadana
sarvatma-snapanam param vijayate sri-krsna-sankirtanam
(2) namnam akari bahudha nija-sarva-saktis
tatrarpita niyamitah smarane na kalah

elevated from all sorts of doubts in the science of God. At this
stage the result of past activities becomes vanquished because of
his realization of the Supreme Lord."
This is the process of becoming liberated from the influence of the
modes of ignorance and passion, and thus they can become freed
from all inauspicious things accumulated in the heart.
But because I am very unfortunate, unqualified, and the most
fallen, therefore I am seeking Your benediction so that I may be
able to convince them about this (Krishna Consciousness).
Somehow or other, You have brought me here to speak about You.
Now it is up to You to make me a success or failure as You like.
You are the Lord of the whole creation, so if You like You can
make my power of speaking as suitable as they can understand.
By Your causeless mercy only my words may become
transcendentally pure, and I am sure when such transcendental
message is penetrated in their hearts certainly they will feel
engladdened, and thus become liberated from all unhappy
conditions of life.
I am just like a puppet in Your hands, and You have brought me
here, now You can make me dance as You like.
I have no devotion, nor I have any knowledge, but still I have been
designated as Bhaktivedanta, now if You like You can just fulfill the
real purport of Bhaktivedanta.

Markine Bhagavat Dharma
My Dear Lord Krishna, You are so kind upon this useless soul, but I
do not know why You have brought me here. Now You can do
whatever You like with me.
But I can guess that You have got some business here, otherwise
why should You call me here which is demoniac.
Most of the population here is covered by ignorance and passion
modes of nature, and I do not know how they will be able to
understand the transcendental message of Vasudeva.
But I know Your causeless mercy can make everything possible
because You are the most expert mystic.
Therefore, I am simply praying for Your mercy so that I can be able
to convince them about Your message.
All living entities have become under control of the illusory energy
by Your will, and therefore, if You like, by Your will they can also be
released from the clutches of illusion.
If You so desire, I wish that You may deliver them, and only by Your
such desire all of them will be able to understand Your message.
The words of Srimad-Bhagavatam are Your incarnation, and if they
receive it in submissive aural reception, repeatedly, then they will be
able to understand your message.
In the Srimad-Bhagavatam, First Canto, Second Chapter, verses 17
through 21, it is said: "Anyone who gives aural reception to the
transcendental message about You, which are always auspicious, by
hearing and chanting, for him You become special well-wisher, and
thus remaining within his heart You clear up all inauspicious
understanding. When such inauspicious understandings are almost
clear, at that time one realizes the importance of devotional service.
In that stage of understanding, the influence of the modes of
ignorance and passion becomes almost nil, and the resultant action
of passion and ignorance cannot anymore attack the heart, and thus
he becomes joyful being situated on the platform of goodness.
When he thus becomes jubilant on account of awakening the modes
of goodness by dint of devotional service, at that time he becomes
liberated from material contamination and is able to understand the
science of God. In this stage of liberation all misgivings in the heart,
or bondage of material network, becomes cut into pieces, and he is
(1) Glory to the Sri Krishna sankirtana, which cleanses the heart of all
the dust accumulated for years and extinguishes the fire of conditional
life, of repeated birth and death. This sankirtana movement is the
prime benediction for humanity at large because it spreads the rays of
the benediction moon. It is the life of all transcendental knowledge. It
increases the ocean of transcendental bliss, and it enables us to fully
taste the nectar for which we are always anxious.
(2) O my Lord, Your holy name alone can render all benediction to
living beings, and thus You have hundreds and millions of names like
Krishna and Govinda. In these transcendental names You have invested
all Your transcendental energies. There are not even hard and fast
rules for chanting these names. O my Lord, out of kindness You enable
us to easily approach You by chanting Your holy names, but I am so
unfortunate that I have no attraction for them.
(3) One should chant the holy name of the Lord in a humble state of
mind, thinking oneself lower than the straw in the street; one should
be more tolerant than a tree, devoid of all sense of false prestige, and
ready to offer all respect to others. In such a state of mind one can
chant the holy name of the Lord constantly.
(4) O almighty Lord, I have no desire to accumulate wealth, nor do I
desire beautiful women, nor do I want any number of followers. I only
want Your causeless devotional service birth after birth.
(5) O son of Maharaja Nanda (Krishna), I am Your eternal servitor, yet
somehow or other I have fallen into the ocean of birth and death.
Please pick me up from this ocean of death and place me as one of the
atoms of Your lotus feet.
(6) O my Lord, when will my eyes be decorated with tears of love
flowing constantly when I chant Your holy name? When will my voice
choke up, and when will the hairs on my body stand on end at the
recitation of Your name?
(7) O Govinda! Felling Your separation, I am considering a moment to
be like twelve years or more. Tears are flowing from my eyes like
torrents of rain, and I am feeling all vacant in the world in the absence
of You.
(8) I know no one but Krishna as my Lord, and He shall remain so even
if He handles me roughly in His embrace or makes me broken-hearted
by not being present before me. He is completely free to do anything
and everything, for He is always my worshipful Lord, unconditionally.

Sri Sri Gurvastaka
[Translation] (1) The spiritual master is receiving
benediction from the ocean of mercy. Just as a cloud
pours water on a forest fire to extinguish it, so the
spiritual master delivers the materially afflicted world
by extinguishing the blazing fire of material
existence. I offer my respectful obeisances unto the
lotus feet of such a spiritual master, who is an ocean
of auspicious qualities.
(2) Chanting the holy name, dancing in ecstasy,
singing, and playing musical instruments, the
spiritual master is always gladdened by the
sankirtana movement of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
Because he is relishing the mellows of pure devotion
within his mind, sometimes his hair stands on end,
he feels quivering in his body, and tears flow from
his eyes like waves. I offer my respectful obeisances
unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master.
(3) The spiritual master is always engaged in the
temple worship of Shri Shri Radha and Krishna. He
also engages his disciples in such worship. They
dress the Deities in beautiful clothes and ornaments,
clean Their temple, and perform other similar
worship of the Lord. I offer my respectful obeisances
unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master.
O Lord Krsna, You are my eternal companion. Forgetting
You, I have suffered the kicks of maya birth after birth. If
today the chance to meet You occurs again, then I will
surely be able to rejoin You.
tomara milane bhai abar se sukha pai
gocarane ghuri din bhor
kata bane chutachuti bane khai lutaputi
sei din kabe habe mor
O dear friend, in Your company I will experience great
joy once again. In the early morning I will wander about
the cowherd pastures and fields. Running and frolicking
in the many forests of Vraja, I will roll on the ground in
spiritual ecstasy. Oh when will that day be mine?
aji se subidhane tomara smarana bhela
baro asa dakilam tai
ami tomara nitya-dasa tai kori eta asa
tumi bina anya gati nai
Today that remembrance of You came to me in a very
nice way. Because I have a great longing I called to You. I
am Your eternal servant and therefore I desire Your
association so much. O Lord Krsna, except for You there
is no other means of success.

(4) The spiritual master is always offering Krishna

four kinds of delicious food [analyzed as that which
is licked, chewed, drunk, and sucked]. When the
spiritual master sees that the devotees are satisfied
by eating bhagavat-prasada, he is satisfied. I offer
my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of such
a spiritual master.
se karja je koribare ajna jadi dilo more
jogya nahi an dina hina
tai se tomara krpa magitechi anurupa
aji numi sabar pravina
Although my Guru Maharaja ordered me to accomplish
this mission, I am not worthy or fit to do it. I am very
fallen and insignificant. Therefore, O Lord, now I am
begging for Your mercy so that I may become worthy,
for You are the wisest and most experienced of all.
tomara se sakti pele guru-sebaya bastu mile
jibana sarthak jadi hoy
sei se seva paile tahale sukhi hale
taba sanga bhagyate miloy
If You bestow Your power, by serving the spiritual
master one attains the Absolute Truth--one's life
becomes successful. If that service is obtained, then one
becomes happy and gets Your association due to good
fortune.
evam janam nipatitam prabhavahikupe
kamabhikamam anu yah prapatan prasangat
krtvatmasat surarsina bhagavan grhitah
so 'ham katham nu visrje tava bhrtya-sevam
My dear Lord, O Supreme Personality of Godhead,
because of my association with material desires, one
after another, I was gradually falling into a blind well full
of snakes, following the general populace. But Your
servant Narada Muni kindly accepted me as his disciple
and instructed me how to achieve this transcendental
position. Therefore, my first duty is to serve him. How
could I leave his service? (Prahlada Maharaja to Lord
Nrsinghadeva, Bhag. 7.9.28)
tumi mor cira sathi bhuliya mayar lathi
khaiyachi janma-janmantare
aji punah e sujoga jadi hoy jogayoga
tabe pari tuhe milibare
(5) The spiritual master is always eager to hear and
chant about the unlimited conjugal pastimes of
Radhika and Madhava, and Their qualities, names,
and forms. The spiritual master aspires to relish
these at every moment. I offer my respectful
obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual
master.
(6) The spiritual master is very dear, because he is
expert in assisting the gopis, who at different times
make different tasteful arrangements for the
perfection of Radha and Krishna's conjugal loving
affairs within the groves of Vrindavana. I offer my
respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a
spiritual master.
(7) The spiritual master is to be honored as much as
the Supreme Lord, because he is the most
confidential servitor of the Lord. This is
acknowledged in all revealed scriptures and followed
by all authorities. Therefore I offer my humble
obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual
master, who is a bona fide representative of Shri Hari
[Krishna].
(8) By the mercy of the spiritual master one receives
the benediction of Krishna. Without the grace of the
spiritual master, one cannot make any advancement.
Therefore, I should always remember and praise the
spiritual master. At least three times a day I should
offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of
my spiritual master.

Prayer to Lord Nrsingadeva
[Translation] I offer my obeisances to Lord Nrsinga,
who gives joy to Prahlada Maharaja and whose nails
are like chisels on the stonelike chest of the demon
Hiranyakashipu.
Lord Nrsinga is here and also there. Wherever I
go Lord Nrsinga is there. He is in the heart and is
outside as well. I surrender to Lord Nrsinga, the
origin of all things and the supreme refuge.
O Keshava! O Lord of the universe! O Lord Hari,
who have assumed the form of half-man, half-lion!
All glories to You! Just as one can easily crush a wasp
between one's fingernails, so in the same way the
body of the wasp-like demon, Hiranyakashipu, has
been ripped apart by the wonderful pointed nails on
Your beautiful lotus hands. (This verse is from Shri
Dasavatara-stotra, the Gita-govinda, written by
Jayadeva Gosvami.)
Translation
O Tulasi, beloved of Krishna, I bow before you
again and again. My desire is to obtain the service of
Shri Shri Radha-Krishna.
Whoever takes shelter of you has his wishes
fulfilled. Bestowing your mercy on him, you make him
a resident of Vrindavana.
My desire is that you will also grant me a
residence in the pleasure groves of Shri Vrindavana-
dhama. Thus, within my vision I will always behold
the beautiful pastimes of Radha and Krishna.
I beg you to make me a follower of the cowherd
damsels of Vraja. Please give me the privilege of
devotional service and make me your own
maidservant.
Prayer to the Lotus Feet of Krishna
krsna taba punya habe bhai
e-punya koribe jabe radharani khusi habe
dhruva ati boli toma tai
I emphatically say to you, O brothers, you will obtain your
good fortune from the Supreme Lord Krsna only when
Srimati Radharani becomes pleased with you.
sri-siddhanta saraswati saci-suta priya ati
krishna-sebaya jara tula nai
sei se mohanta-guru jagater madhe uru
krishna-bhakti dey thai thai
Sri Srimad Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, who is very
dear to Lord Gauranga, the son of mother Saci, is
unparalleled in his service to the Supreme Lord Sri Krsna.
He is that great saintly spiritual master who bestows
intense devotion to Krsna at different places throughout
the world.
tara iccha balavan pascatyete than than
hoy jate gauranger nam
prthivite nagaradi asamudra nada nadi
sakalei loy krsna nam
By his strong desire, the holy name of Lord Gauranga will
spread throughout all the countries of the Western world.
In all the cities, towns, and villages on the earth, from all
the oceans, seas, rivers, and streams, everyone will chant
the holy name of Krishna.
tahale ananda hoy tabe hoy digvijay
caitanyer krpa atisay
maya dusta jata duhkhi jagate sabai sukhi
vaisnaver iccha purna hoy
As the vast mercy of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu conquers all
directions, a flood of transcendental ecstasy will certainly
cover the land. When all the sinful, miserable living entities
become happy, the Vaisnavas' desire is then fulfilled.
